Bought this as a Christmas present for my 8 year old. Might have been his favorite gift, and that's saying a lot when he also received a nintendo switch. Quality is great and it really is JUMBO. Great purchase.

it came as one solid piece. the rings were molded/melted together.amazon assured me they would find another, and check it to be sure that it was okay. they told me to just discard the old defective one, and i did.i received the new one, and it was in perfect condition. i would give it a 5 star.but, after all this, amazon now wants the defective one back... the one they advised me to throw away.the 1 star is for the original defect, the wait... and now the hassle of amazon charging me twice... for a silly little piece of plastic. though the second one was in perfect condition, had i known it would take this long, and cause this much of a waste of time contacting amazon, i wouldnt have bought it.in the end, amazon said the email, requesting the return, was an error. so its all good. i just like to buy a product and have it right the first time and not waste time over such a trivial item.since it is wrapped in plastic, if you present this gift to a child, without first unwrapping it, you may be in for a disappointing surprise should it be defective. so, if giving this as a gift... you may need to unwrap it and check it first.

If I was just rating the product, I'd give this a five. The slinkies themselves are made of rugged plastic. The coils don't get tangled and don't bend. Perfect for modeling both light and sound waves -- something that I was planning to do with them in my sixth grade science classroom.But be prepared: If you order more than one, you might not get slinkies of the same size. I ordered four and I got two that are full sized and two that are noticeably smaller. In fact, the smaller versions can literally fit directly inside of the larger versions.That bugs me because it means the company knowingly sent me different products without any explanation and without any discount in price. I would have returned them if I didn't need them immediately for a classroom lab.Long story short: Great product, but I don't trust the company.
