Extremely disappointed in this product
This product was leaching through the plastic. I did not realize it, and put it on my cabinet and now the finish is gone where the container was sitting.

Excellent product that works very well clearing drains.
I had used this product before & it worked very well on our shower drain that was clogged quite badly. So badly, that the water rose about 2 inches above the shower floor an looked like the drain was completely clogged. However, some 20 minutes later the water had slowly cleared from the floor through the drain. I ordered the Roto-Rooter Drain Gel, waiting a few days until delivery. Following instructions, from the bottle, the first time I waited one hour before using 2 quarts of hot water to wash the gel out of the drain. The drain did drain better, but with a full hot water shower faucet wash, after about 1-2 minutes the drain showed water up to its top again. This prompted one more treatment, but leaving the gel in the drain overnight. Next day the drain was working very well, much better after this second treatment, since all water went into the drain and did not build up to the shower, floor even though both the hot and cold water faucets were being used at their the full power for 5 minutes. About 1 year later I tried another advertised drain clearing gel that was moderately cheaper. It also worked well, but not quite as good, or as responsive as the Roto-Rooter Gel. With this other brand I had to use the entire 80oz bottle to get about the same results I achieved with about 32oz oz of the Roto-Rooter results. 32 oz was good enough for the Roto-Rooter Gel. I did, however, read that many of the small percentage of the negative reviews concerning The Roto-Rooter Gel centered around complaints that they had to deal with Gel leakage of the bottle. Both gels are poisonous to human and true spillage could be quite hazardous. However, I did not have this above problem with the first two 64oz bottles that I had purchased and I was somewhat baffled by their complaints, most of which had to do with leakage and their hazards. Not having experienced this particular problem, and the fact that I was overall quite pleased with this product, I ordered four 64 oz bottles, this time. Well, I was quite surprised when i opened up the box, in that two of the four bottled showed a dried white crystalline substance on the outside and surrounding the entire two affected bottle top caps. In addition, the side of the box of these two bottles did show a abnormal line of that had a yellowish color with same white crystals on the top of the discoloration that obviously was in an area of what was a prior leak, that had died out. This discovery certainly bothered me, since the gel is quite toxic to human skin and especially the eyes which can result in a medical emergency- or at least washing the eyes out with water for 20 minutes or so. But what was causing leaks in two bottles, while the other two bottles were perfectly fine looking? I carefully, checked the four bottles outer surface searching for any cracks. I saw none and the plastic walls of these bottles seemed fairly sturdy. So where were these former two leaks coming from? The answer became obvious when I took off the caps from each of the 4 bottles. The problem was not cracks in the two bottle caps since I saw none. However, the explanation does lie in the fact that once all four bottle caps were removed, none of the bottle openings showed a plastic, cardboard or metallic covering over the bottle spout opening. Many modern liquid filled bottles now have that protection-- but not these bottles. I have previously bought eight, 1 quart plastic bottles to store milk in a freezer. Each had plastic caps & some of these, if turned on their sides, could leak fluids like milk or juice. This is what I faithfully believe is happening with these Roto-Rooter Gel Bottle caps-- they look fine, but if they do not fit perfectly, when turned on their side or upside down, some can leak without any cracks in the cap. I am writing this review, not only to the purchasers, but I hope this review is seen by the manufacturer as well. With only good intentions from this reviewer, I sincerely hope that they will investigate what I am relating, and if they verify my findings and thesis, that the manufacturers of Roto-Rooter Gel will fix the caustic fluid leak hazards, by putting a well designed, tight fitting, bottle top opening, covering material, that will withstand the hazards of the trip of transporting these bottles to their purchasers. During transportation, if they are bereft of tight fitting spout opening coverings, then when the boxes are transported, some of the boxes, in all probability, and on occasion, at least, are likely turned on their sides during portions of their transportation to the purchaser. By this manner, it is likely the "how", "why" and "when" the actual in box gel bottle-cap leakage occurs.
