Powerful conversations for connecting with, and developing great kids
As a father of three college-age sons, I sure wish this book had been delivered along with each of our "babies". It's a gem that should be required reading (over and over) for all parents as they raise their kids.Personally, I can't imagine a greater gift to give kids than the skills to design, initiate and engage in effective conversations and relationships. The author, Paul Axtell, has created a wonderful learning experience here that includes explanations of key concepts, suggested words and language to use, supporting process steps, and other tools to help you give kids just such a gift.As you make your way through the "Ten Powerful Things", I believe you'll appreciate Axtell's honesty and thoughtful stories around his successes and occasional missteps while raising his own kids. I suspect you'll also enjoy the array of great quotes, true anecdotes from other parents and the beautiful illustrations that support the ideas in each chapter. Most importantly, though, I think you'll appreciate the huge selection of questions, phrases, and suggested language Axtell offers to help you "say things that matter" to your kids. This is truly a hands-on resource that you can turn to regularly as you navigate the challenges of helping your kids develop and evolve into confident, effective adults. Along the journey, you'll find yourself connecting with your kids in new ways you may have never thought possible. If you're still wondering whether to make the plunge and buy the book, why not try it on for size first? You can download a free chapter titled, What You Say Matters, from the author's book website at "tenpowerfulthingstosay.com".Afterwards, I'm confident you'll return here to buy the book. You and your kids will be glad you did!

Amazing book, I learned so much as a first ...
Amazing book , I learned so much as a first time father. Being one of eleven children, it brought back different things my parents or other elders would say or do. Not only did it provide me a new insight into raising my child but also new ideas to have a fulfilling marriage!

Ten Powerful Things to Say to Your Kids
As I read books, I turn down the corner of pages that I want to re-visit. About half way through the book I realized most of the pages were turned down! This is a wonderful and practical book about creating and enhancing relationships with the people who are the most important to you. Although it is written with children in mind, the concepts apply to all relationships in your life. The principles are simple and profound. You can start to practice them as soon as you put the book down. This book is truly a gem! Buy two; one for yourself and one for a gift.Pam Hillary, Executive Coach and Leadership Consultant
