Turtle Beach Atlas Three Amplified Gaming Headset

I bought these for my son as he's very fast becoming a Cartman from 'that' episode of South Park. He loves nothing more than to sit in his room on a sunny day with the curtains drawn playing online games whilst whooping and hollering down the microphone of his headset like some kind of janked up yankie! The audio quality on these headphone is extremely good. Very bassy but also allowing the small details to be heard. However, the microphone - my son reports - is not so good. He complains that it's quiet and his friends can't hear him so he's reverted back to using his old headphones whilst these just sit on the floor. So overall - great sound but terrible mic.

This might be obvious to others but I would have thought they would have a pass through element so would work as a basic headset if the battery was dead since they are wired and not wireless.Alas though this is not the case and has been confirmed with turtle beach support (Who were quick to respond on twitter)I have compared these to the Atlas one and the amplification is a definite improvement to the sound.Although I have only owned these for a short while they appear to be comfortable.I'll update the review once I have used them in a voice chat, I wanted to post the review earlier as I may not have purchased them if I had known about the none pass through of audio and it may help others.

I wanted to love them. They are comfy. And the sounds alright when the mic is not on.Unfortunstely though when the mic is active it crackles very badly. Both on my end and for whoever is on comms with me. So they are just not fit for purpose.Maybe I just got a bad set? But they are Turtle Beach which is supposed to be a top brand in this field. And my experience so far is they are not living up to their hype.They will need to be returned. Time to search for another set.

Very bad built quality, they don’t sound good at all, they are comparable with £15 headphones. I have no words about the mic, as it was not working. And on top of that, turtle beach doesn’t accept returns, i am not sure how they sell on amazon, as i started a return within the first hour I received the headphones, and they told that is not possible to return them because I opened the box.

Disclaimer: bought this used.Great sounding headset, very comfortable. However extremely loud static would intermittently come on, to me and anyone I'm talking to. Seemed to be no fix, could may it quieter by flipping the mic up to mute but it never fixed it. Returning it.If I bought this new it may have been a great headset with no issues, alas I did. When it worked though it was great, just don't buy it used.
