There is a light at the end of the tunnel and hot sex too!
Resisting Roots was a good beginning to the Lotus House series. You meet the characters, get a feel for what the Lotus House and it’s surrounding community is about, and a great introduction to yoga and how it applies to your life if you practice.Resisting Roots is the first book but I didn’t read it first, and I think if I had read it first I might not have moved on to the second book. It’s a good story and has it’s sexy moments, but it’s very realistic and it’s easy to fall in love with the characters as they fall in love with each other. It’s really easy to go through Trent and Genevive’s daily life with them. I started out with the second book and I tried yoga once and never wanted to do it again but after reading the second book I was ready to grab my husband and try Dash’s class. That book was hot and sizzling literally the majority of the time. I could barely hold the book. Then more characters were introduced and they were so enticing that I had to run and grab the third book. Not having the 4th book at the time I went back and read Resisting Roots, and I’m glad I read it later. I was able to appreciate the beginning a lot more because I had an attachment to Genevive and Trent already through the other books, and I was able to enjoy the sexy scenes they had because I needed to cool down after book 2 and 3. I’m not telling you to read them out of order, but I personally am glad I did. Trent and Genevive have a tough job. They have to set the stage for the other books to come, and go through their own struggles and insecurities. It’s every day life and that’s ok because it makes them real, but I promise you each book so far has gotten better, and just prepare to get on that yoga mat and get sweaty.

TIME TO BRUSH UP MY YOGA SKILLS
I read/listened to this and IMO the narration, especially the female narrator (Holly Chandler) really brought this story to life. Here we have Genevieve, a yoga instructor and aspiring hairstylist with much responsibility for a 24 year old woman. She is guardian to her siblings, 16 and 8 years old. She tries every day to stay centered and zen despite the financial and emotional pressures she's under. She's got a signature look—cat eye makeup, colorful lips, platinum hair, a smokin' hot little body, and depth that the Hero has never dealt with before in a woman.Enter Trent the injured major league baseballer—a player both on the field and off. He comes to the Lotus House yoga studio for the next step in his rehab and is immediately hit by a truck that is the beautiful Genevieve (he calls her Gumdrop. LOL) This is the most instant of insta-lusts you're ever gonna read about. Genevieve is Trent's target and he's focused in on her like a laser beam. He right away signs up for private lessons and books every open slot she has for the entire next month. His plan is to dazzle her with his no-fail moves and get into her pants asap. But Genevieve ain't like Trent's usual hook ups. She resists his charms despite her obvious interest, and Trent knows he's gonna have to work a little harder for this one.Eventually Genevieve caves and they start fooling around at the yoga studio (o_O) taking full advantage of her mastery of poses. Genevieve decides a short little fling is just what she needs, but Trent has decided he wants this to be in no way temporary and he starts taking steps toward building it into a relationship. Unfortunately he messes up all over the place because he's never had an adult relationship and he has no idea how to do it. But it all ends up in an HEA of course. This is a story of patience all around. There's satisfying character growth, especially for the Hero. And the story is greatly enhanced by the addition of the yoga philosophies that elevate it above the same old, same old contemporary romance. IMO this story has all the makings of a terrific movie, which it will be sometime in 2022.

Sexy yoga
3.5-4 stars. Trent Fox is looking towards yoga to help him with an injury since he's a professional MLB player. Genevieve is the yoga instructor in charge of bring him back to health. I liked Genevieve. She was responsible, compassionate and very good at what she does. She has a lot of passion for yoga. As for Trent, he was okay. I didn't particularly feel attached to him and Genevieve could have equally fallen for a different guy and maybe been happier since Trent could be somewhat self centered. There's a lot of emphasis on yoga and the romance itself was pretty standard and straight forward as well as sweet in the sense that it doesn't stand out from other stories.

You Can Only Win If You Play The Game
Trent and Genevieve will have your heart tied up in knots as they fall head over heels. Genevieve won’t take the credit, but her selfless acts after her parent's passing should qualify her for sainthood. She put aside her dreams and aspirations to become the solo caretaker for her two young siblings and to take on all the burdens of caring for a whole family. With bills ever present and only her fly by night hair salon business and yoga income to support them, Genevieve has has to make some tough calls, but she has always put her siblings first. When the handsome, cocky, and charming Trent Fox shows up in her yoga class and suddenly is very sweet on her, she's not sure what to make of it. What could a famous baseball god want with a debt-ridden sudo-parent of two. Trent needs to rehab an injury to come back better than he was to quiet the critics. When yoga is suggested he is nothing but sceptic until the class not only kick his butt, but the delectable yogi teaching it strikes his fancy. She seems to be leery of his player rep though and convincing her to give him a shot may take more than his normal tricks, but he got a sneaky suspicion she just might be worth it.

It was ok
Not much story really. Lots of yoga and sex (sometimes at the same time). Not sure I’ll bother with the rest of the series.
