So far so good, not a perfect match, but close enough to work in my X5 E70 3.0
As I intend to sell this vehicle and get a sports car, of course the water pump decides to go out. Since you are in there, you might as well replace the thermostat as it is removed to get to the water pump.I removed the fan assembly and radiator which is very easy on the E70 X5 3.0. Plenty of room to remove both thermostat and water pump in the space once occupied by the radiator and fan. Not as scary as videos make it out to be. It is a 4hr job. Get 2 gallons of compatible 50/50 coolant. Amazon sells everything you need. This does include 3 new aluminum bolts as the old bolts cannot be reused since they stretch.The electrical plug is not in the same spot so I had to reroute the harness to the thermostat and pump, easy to do.Once completed and the coolant tank filled up, bleed the system by putting the heater on 84 on both sides, lowest fan setting, press gas until the pump starts and give it 10 minutes to bleed, while topping off (engine off, ignition on).So far, 100 miles and no issues.

It works on the bench
I'm going to use it on a custom application. A 3.7 Mercruiser in a 1928 Ford. Bypassing the stock troublesome water pump for the external BMW one. It is imported from China, not Germany! Looks like it should wort pretty good for the cost.

Generic will fry Distribution Box and Battery Do Not Buy!!!
These aftermarket parts do not work. Waisted money waisted time. The Only two to buy are the ones in the higher priced. They are only two recommended by BMW. Trust Me. I bought these and did not work. I bought the higher quality ones and no issues. All Certified BMW Techs. Will Not Install These! They Refuse The Work Order!I ended up buying new radiator, Reservoir Etc. Thinking it was something else. Finally took it to a Independent Facility that Specializes in BMWs and Only Works on BMW's and Mini Coopers. I bought the Two that is the High Priced Worked Immediately and Did not need Radiator or Reservoir Tank! The Bleeding Air from System Works Once Or Twice at Most and Then Does Not Work Again. There is Nothing Quality, Performance!!!!! Also the connector will short out the main relay on top of the battery. (Red Box) Most of the time You really don't need an Electric Fuel Pump. The Power Distribution Box with Fuse is the whole problem. Especially when says Communication Error Water Pump. Because of weak battery. That being said, You will most definitely need one if you buy this cheap knockoff. It will mess it up. Then you have cost of battery plus Dist. Box, and OEM Connection End. Better to just buy the 425.-500. Plus 60.00-80.00 on Dist. Box. Then paying for everything else. Then have to spend that

Installed in X5 couple weeks ago and working with no problems at all and stopped the overheating problem. Direct fit of the OEM with no modifications needed.

Perfect fit
Took the risk buying parts from Amazon but have no regrets! Installed on my 325i 06. It took about 3 1/2 hours to install. So far no issues it’s been about a month. I’ll update in a few more months!
