For years I was taking a Vitamin B complex, but then I found out the dose of niacin was extremely high. My hands and feet were turning red, like a permanent niacin rush. I found out on the Internet I was simply taking too much niacin and it could damage my liver. So I threw the B complex away and decided to just take B12 since I'm a veggie. So I consulted the Internet to find out the safe dose of B12 and this was the only product that comes in within the safe dose of B12. So far so good! A month or two after I quit taking niacin my palms and soles are no longer red.

My cat is Vit B-12 deficient. I had been having his vitamins compounded at a veterinary pharmacy, but it was rather expensive, so I looked at a number of brands for the appropriate dosage and found these and asked my vet to review the ingredients. She did and said they were ok for the kitty. The pills arrived, but weren't as shown--they had calcium added--so I ran that by the vet, and she said ok. I opened the bottle and found that the pills--due to the addition of calcium--were about 4 times the size that they had been depicted in the description, way too big for my cat to swallow, so I returned them. I contacted the manufacturer who said they no longer made them without the calcium, so I've gone back to having the pills compounded. So, if you have a small child or elderly person or pet who needs Vit B-12, take pill size into consideration.

The description of the product does not mention calcium, but it is added to the B12.
