Independently published Wing Chun Wooden Dummy: Become a Master Infighter

I purchased a wooden dummy to assist with my martial arts training and conditioning and I'm so glad that I did. But I wanted more guidance in other ways to use it, particularly traditional use. This book assists in doing that with clear photos and easy to read information.

A lot of pages are just wasted space with one picture on the page. The demonstration not very detailed. Difficult to understand the art with this book.

This book covers a lot (all?) of drills using the wooden dummy. However, it constantly refers to names and concepts that are not explained anywhere in the book. It is assmued the reader already has good knowledge of the Wing Chun sticky hands techniques, and know the Wing Chun terminology. This made me return the book, since I had no Wing Chun experience and thought this book would teach me some. This book would be better for a WIng Chun practitioner who wants to proceed with doing the wooden dummy. Another drawback was the constant references to God and Jesus. But I could have lived with that, if there was practical lessons for me in the book, which there was not. A simple section that explains Wing Chun terminology would have made this book much better. Also, the photos are kinda weird, often from the position looking over his shoulder, and not being able to see clearly what is going on. So I deduct 1 star for religous blabla, 1 star for lack of terminology explanation, and 1 star for poor photos, and I give it 2 out of 5.

Vorne weg: Ich trainiere schon ein paar Jahre kein Wing Chun mehr aktiv und habe die Form selbst damals aber noch gelernt. Vieles von damals habe ich aber in mein Budo / MMA-Training übernommen, u.a. auch das Training an der Holzpuppe und die Form. Viele Bücher zur Holzpuppe haben mich enttäuscht, hier war es anders. Die Interpretationen zur Anwendung sind sehr spannend und regen zum Experimentieren an. Zum Lernen des Ablaufs der Form kann man es nutzen, da gibt es aber bessere Möglichkeiten.
