Lockdown Silica Desiccant 750 Grams OM=4

I purchased this to remove humidity from my safe which holds pro DSLR camera gear. I tried standard silica packets and the laundry demudifier style before this and neither of those worked. I put the canister in the safe with 1/4 level of beads and it dropped the humidity from 49% to 39% in half a day. It was down to 36% at the 24-hour mark. That’s a little too low for camera gear so I’m running with 1/8 canister right now (medium size safe). After one month, the level went form 39% to 46% so I removed the beads and they were black (ready for recharging). I just replaced the beads but will continue to monitor the humidity with my hygrometer. Very easy to use and very effective!

Good cheaper solution to buying bulk desiccant for my gun safes. No magic to making this stuff so I don't care where its made as long as it sucks up moisture from the air. True you have a little bit of air space in the can but you are getting the advertised weight. Last I check a bag of chips or a box of cereal only comes half full as well. I actually prefer that it has an air gap because I hoard all the little packs of descant that I get in various shipments and now I have a place to put it. Between two cans of this stuff I used up all the spare desiccant I had around. Also this package comes with a paper moisture indicator telling you when to bake it. While it does have a lid with a window that window "does not" have the color changing type of desiccant in it. Its just a window that lets you see down to the primary desiccant. I have a few of the US made units that cost twice as much as this one and it doesn't suck up moisture any better than this one does. Save your money and buy twice as many of these as you would the other ones. 5 Stars all around on this one.

Works great. I've purchased a few different branded 750g silica gel canisters and this one works just as well as the slightly more expensive versions. Where other ones have the indicator beads just in the top cap, this one was entirely filled with indicator beads. Can't say that's a pro or con, but it's worth noting. I use several of these to keep a basement safe dry inside, and they work very well. Even with the large, high capacity units, you may still need to recharge them (in the oven) fairly often. That's especially true if you're just using these for the first time. You may find yourself recharging these every few months until you can stabilize the humidity in your safe, then much less often as time goes on. At this rate, I currently recharge them every few months and they keep my safe quite dry. Very happy with these, and I'll be purchasing more in the future.

I have a gun safe with no electrical port. I needed something to keep moisture down inside it. The safe is located in a controlled environment. Humidity was not too bad in the surrounding location however, inside the safe the humidity was always higher than the outside. The safe is rather large so I added two inside it along with a battery operated monitor. Within 24 hours it dropped the humidity inside to 50% . The humidity stayed constant as long as the door was closed. It was nearly 9 months before I noticed the humidity rising again. I placed the pellets on a cookie sheet and placed them in my oven. The temp was set @ 235. It took well over three hours too turn all the pellets yellow again. They are back in the safe and I consider this item a good buy. Note: if your area has high humidity expect to recharge them more often. Your humidity in the area where it is located will greatly affect the usefulness of this item.

Works great it my 64 gun safe, I have 5 of them and it keeps my humidity 35%-45%.

because you are going to need to take a day off work in order to recharge the beads. I'm going on 8 hours at 250 degrees and I still have quite a few dark green beads using the cookie sheet method. I'd say 50% are back to orange. That said, I just realized I purchased this in July for a decent sized safe and it's now January. 6 months of moisture control is worth $15 to me. THIS IS A ONE TIME USE PRODUCT. If you want silicone beads littering your kitchen floor along with your wife asking why the oven has been on for 8 hours, then go ahead and try the cookie sheet method. I won't buy again but it does its job for ONE use, not unlimited as the description states. The can came dented but did not affect the product.

Seems like a good product. I haven't recharged it yet but it is obviously performing it's required function as I can see the beads changing colour.
