I INVESTIGATE AND REWARD PURITY, DOCUMENTATION, AND CONTACT INFO FOR SUPPLEMENTS
45 single tablespoon doses. This amino acid in combination with protein, builds muscle. This supplement meets all my criteria. I would use it with confidence.I will provide any known benefits and side-effects I experience from each supplement I take personally; however, effects are often unapparent for many months - if at all. For this reason, I choose to place more emphasis on product safety in my reviews and will point out weaknesses. My ancestors were slaves in the lowcountry barrier islands on my mother's side and Native Americans from the Great Smoky Mountains of NC on my father's. Herbal remedies have been a part of my heritage for centuries. I was treated with herbs since birth, grow many of my own, and they have been a part of my life for over 60 years. I have successfully treated numerous friends and family members in our coastal community. Now finally, many previously unavailable herbal remedies are on the market. This is a mixed blessing, because the industry is largely unregulated. I hope that I may better assist Amazon buyers by publishing my reviews in this manner.

Muscle-Building Amino Acid
1 serving size = 1 tbsp, 45 servings per containerexp 01/2026L-Leucine is popular with bodybuilders and athletes for potential muscle recovery and gains. It is a nutrient regulator of muscle protein synthesis. My interest in L-Leucine supplementation is to help reduce age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia). "The loss of muscle mass with aging has been attributed, at least partly, to a reduced muscle protein synthetic response to food intake."L-Leucine is a hydrophobic amino acid (does not readily mix with water). I stir 1 tbsp of the Best Naturals L-Leucine powder into a glass of water the best I can along with creatine and glutamine and add a packet of Emergen-C to make it palatable. I take it pre-workout. Easier and more convenient that way. Optimal timing recommendations vary considerably. Still looking into pre- and post-exercise whey protein supplementation.Overviews of Leucine and Sarcopenia:DrAxe: "Leucine: The Muscle-Building Amino Acid Your Body Needs"DrAxe: "Sarcopenia: 10 Keys to Keep Your Muscle Mass Up as You Age"Articles that may be of interest but a bit lengthy:ncbi nlm nih gov: "Effects of Leucine Administration in Sarcopenia: A Randomized and Placebo-controlled Clinical Trialncbi nlm nih gov: "Is leucine content in dietary protein the key to muscle preservation in older women?"ncbi nlm nih gov: "Dietary Protein and Muscle in Aging People: The Potential Role of the Gut Microbiome"

Skimpy Quantity of this Powerful Amino Acid
Of the 20 amino acids (AA), leucine (L-leucine) activates the biological mechanism of muscle protein synthesis (MPS) [muscle growth]. Therefore, while you need all AAs for MPS, it’s believed that higher amounts of leucine will stimulate more muscle growth. While I didn’t experience anything extraordinary regarding muscle growth, I did notice that my sleep and energy levels improved. The unfortunate thing is that you get such a small quantity of this powder for the price (it lasts maybe two weeks). That fact, the small amount, leaves me wondering whether or not my body had adequate exposure to reap the benefits.

A great deal for essential pre- and post workout amino acid!
Leucine is one of the 3 essential branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). These amino acids can be used by skeletal muscle to give energy during exercise. Eating foods that have complete protein gives enough of these amino acids. This includes foods such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and milk. Leucine is an important amino acid essential for muscle-building. As one of the branch chain amino acids, Leucine is an important supplement to all bodybuilders. Like the other branch chain amino acids, Leucine is metabolized in our muscles directly rather than in the liver, making it far more bioavailable.Isoleucine is another essential amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. It may also help how hemoglobin is made. This is the oxygen-carrying pigment inside of red blood cells. It may help control blood sugar. It may also boost energy and endurance. Studies have shown that low levels of isoleucine in plasma indicate an increased need for niacin. Chronic deficiency can cause hypoglycemia, loss of muscle mass, or inability to build muscle. This complex offers 5000mg of L-Leucine in a 45 days supply bottle if taken one tablespoon per day. At $9 this L-Leucine supplement is a great deal for essential pre- and post workout amino acid! It is also also domestically produced at Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility. GPM is a system for ensuring that pharmaceutical products are consistently produced and controlled according to high quality standards.

Solid product; dosing contradictory (5g isn’t a tablespoon)
I have been working out more and wanted to add leucine into my fueling repertoire. This is a good price and easy to use. I like it in orange juice, a smoothie or a protein shake. It blends up well and you can’t taste it once it is mixed in. I like that it is third-party lab tested, and made in the USA at a GMP compliant, FDA-registered facility. It is GMO free and doesn’t have any artificial flavor, color or sweeteners, and no preservatives, which is important to me because I am trying to get fitter and not introduce additives to my body. It is gluten/wheat free, salt and sugar free, milk/lactose free, corn, soy, yeast, fish and egg free. One thing to be aware of is that the serving size on the bottle contradicts itself; one tablespoon is over 14g; a teaspoon is a little over 5.5g. The directions say to take one level tablespoon (5g). I have been doing a level teaspoon to start and will likely increase this over time. That said, there is a lot of differing info out there about the optimal amount of leucine to take so do your research and talk to you trainer or doctor. Just know that one tablespoon is way bigger than 5g.
