Acratech Leveling Base, Fits All Standard 3/8-16 Tripod Heads

This leveling base makes locking the camera to dead level fast and easy, invaluable in run-and-gun shooting situations. The leveling bubble is large and easy to see, the knob is easy to loosen and tighten, even with gloves. Solid, quality construction; it handles the weight of my EX1r camcorder loaded with external monitor, two wireless receivers, a shotgun mic and a very large battery. I plan to get another one of these for my second tripod. My only complaint is there're no way to use the tripod's set screws to positively lock the base to the top of a tripod and it has rotated if I have the pan head swivel locked too tightly. Small complaint about a very useful piece of gear.

Works as described , very smooth working, and looks great with my Acratech head. works also on my Monopod. The extra accurate leveling sure does help stay focus!

This base sits on the tripod securely, and provides a strong, sturdy, level bottom to the tripod head. It's very simple to adjust, simply twist the knob a little until it loosens, then move the base around until the little level matches up inside the circle. Then tighten up the knob again, and you're all set. Perfect for panoramas. I've used it multiple times and it's simple, strong, and perfect for what I needed: a strong base to level my camera.

I used to struggle leveling my camera when shooting panoramas. Extend one leg out, one leg in, round and round we go. Total pain on natural terrain. Then I picked up this Acratech leveling base and it changed EVERYTHING. Now when I setup my tripod I just extend the legs, eyeball a “good enough” level, then use this Acratech base to perfectly level my ball head. This accessory is SO MUCH EASIER and FASTER. Yes, it may be more expensive than other brands, but you can tell this base was made to last. Superb construction.

I've been looking at this leveling base for a long time and finally purchased it. It's lightweight and solidly built. The leveling adjustment/movement is smooth and it securely locks in place. I've placed it on my travel Oben travel tripod, which has a 1 3/8" diameter ball head. The leveling base has a larger diameter, which prevents the legs from folding down as tightly, but it still folds into a compact form (the splay of the legs isn't that much). The leveling base will make setting up for panoramas so much easier.

Wasn't sure how much I'd like this or how useful it would be in the real world, but after doing a 4 day trip to Yosemite, I found the Acratech Leveling Base very useful. The fit and finish is typical Acratech- which is to say awesome. Everything about it (including the price) suggests pro quality. The only thing I wish was for a bit more movement (say 15 deg instead of just 10) to make it easier to level when shooting outdoors and the ground is really not level- obviously they made this tradeoff to keep it light and strong. The included bubble level was easy to read and accurate.One thing I liked was even with my Acratech GP ball head + Canon 7D + 70-200L/2.8 IS once you set the base it did NOT MOVE. Can't really ask for more then that!

Like every Acratech product I've had the pleasure of using, this one is top notch as well. Super precision manufacturing and attention to detail are evident. Looks, feels and performs like a precision instrument. I primarily use this with my Acratech Spherical Panorama Head as it allows me to quickly and accurately level the head without having to fiddle with minute tripod leg adjustments.
