GREAT PACKAGE!!!!
the first 5 boa albums where the best so this small box set fits my collection perfecty, these did come out on cd back in 2000 on a label called wounded bird but they where not remastered THESE ARE and sound the best they have since i first heard viynl copies of these some 35 years ago, the only thing missing is the great 1973 live album raunch and roll that was recorded at the fillmore west in 1973, that was and still is a classic live album, i got the rhino deluxe version of that live opus back in 2007 when rhino deluxed it, i never get sick of that live cd set, anyway these where the best records black oak released in just a 4 year period from 1970 to 1974, this was when jim dandy was at his best and a lot of the songs on here bring back great memories from the late 70s when southern rock was very popular here on the east coast, though black oak was washed up by 1978/79 during that boom that was when i first got turned on to them as bands like the outlaws, molly hatchet , marshel tucker band, blackfoot and the charlie daniels band seemed to be selling out arenas here for a short period of time, by 1982 this seemed to all be over, anyway you get the BEST albums by this band in this small and very affordable box set, jim dandy is still a legand and it is great spinning this music again for the first time in a decade, also once again the remastering is awesome and the cds come in small lp replica style sleeves that faithfully replicate the original us albums as they where released some 40 + years ago now, i dont think if you asked jim dandy about black oaks genre he would agree that they where a southern rock band but that was the genre that black oak fell into in the late 70s/early 80s as this type of music had a big boom here, anyway I LOVE THIS BOX SET it is a must own if you are a fan of black oak arkansas.............................

"Black Oak-Style!"
I purchased this set as a birthday gift for my Mom, who has been a huge Black Oak Arkansas fan since her teenaged years of the 70's. During the 80's and 90's, she would often play her vinyl copies of their albums while taking care of my brother, sister and I and tending to our house. Eventually, she packed all of her vinyl and cassettes away in favor of CD's. And I found it near impossible to find BOA albums on CD in any stores around our hometown... Once in a while, I'd run across something like 'Hot & Nasty : Best of BOA' or a live album in a bargain bin... but, never the albums she had loved growing up. Until now!I've found many of BOA's studio albums here on Amazon, some pricey and some more decently priced. But, when I ran across this boxed collection, at a very affordable price, I had to get it for her! I've seen similar sets made for other bands around stores. But, it seemed that this BOA set could only be found online. Perhaps due to being listed as "import"?? Either way, I knew what to expect from a set like this. 5 Cd's inside of 5 individual LP-style mini-replica sleeves, all housed inside of a "slightly thicker than CD jewel case" slip box. No liner notes, no gatefolds. Just basic packaging. Which in all honesty, isn't too far from what many of these releases were like on vinyl anyway.Once she opened this gift, the look on her face made it all worth it. Then, when she put on and turned up 'Street Party'... Let's just say that her reaction was pretty much priceless! It was like witnessing someone seeing a best friend that they hadn't been able to see for many years. :')All of the CD's have great sound quality, and will continue to do so if this set is handled properly. My Mom is more used to the jewel case-style of storage for CD's, but she's sort of gotten used to digipaks and the paper sleeve packaging of some newer releases. I would say that she is 100% thrilled and happy with this set, which makes me 100% happy with my purchase. But, if you're looking for extensive liner notes written by Jim "Dandy" Mangrum, or extensive photographs or a myriad of bonus tracks... then, this set may not be for you. This set contains the albums, their sleeves and a box to store them all in. Nothing fancy. Just straight up Black Oak rock n' roll!!

Comprehensive Series From a Great 70's Band
Black Oak Arkansas, fronted by Jim 'Dandy' Mangram, gave the best live concert I ever saw 'back in the day.' That season they were campaigning for their best overall album, "Black Oak Arkansas", which is included in this multi-disc set. I own both the LP and CD versions of this album (now). For me, stand-out numbers include 'Lord Have Mercy on my Soul'(one of the great 'modern' religious hymns/stories), 'Uncle Elijah'(wild young man discovers the devil has real power) and 'love songs' like 'Memories At the Window,' 'Hills of Arkansas' and 'Hot and Nasty.' You also get their break-out early hit, a cover of 'Singing the Blues.'Other CD's in this set don't quite rise to that level but they all have important music and lyrics as only Black Oak could produce them. "High On the Hog' is a CD title that has special resonance for 'Razorbacks'. Great cuts include: 'Swimming in Quicksand', 'Happy Hooker' and the band's must-hear cover of 'Jim Dandy (to the Rescue)'. 'Street Party' is another great set for a live show: it begins with the band's great musicianship on their cover of 'Dancing In the Streets.' Any working man can sympathize with the weary vocals on 'Sure Been Working Hard.' They throw in a good version of 'Dixie', the anthem of the Old South and its culture. 'If An Angel Came to See You...' stands out for me with one of the band's great instrumentals: 'Full Moon Ride.'These Good Old Boys aren't getting any younger...and I would believe that this is a very fine overview of their work that anyone who has seen them live will want to own to listen to at home.

Not received yet (Oct 12) but I love these guys so I know it will be fantastic. In the dim and distant past I traded my record collection for a van. Love Jim Dandy and live, he is amazing.

GENIAL
Imprescindible en toda discografía. Los cinco primeros discos de esta banda de Southern no tan conocida como otras. Quizá el último disco sea el menos interesante, pero el resto son brutales.

One of the best 'Original Album Series' in my collection
What has already been said doesn't need much additional information.BOA were un unknown band to me until I bought this 'box set'. O.K. - there's no great detail (as in liner / sleeve notes) but if it's music that you're after - then give this a shot - especially if you are a newcomer to BOA (as I was until buying this box set). It's burned to my hard drive and is already overtaking the likes of The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skyrnyrd and ZZ Top as far as frequency of playing goes.It has to be said - if you're not sure - then for the price of 5 albums - give this set a go. ☺ ♫ ☺ ♫ ☺

Ab dem dritten Album, mit dem sperrigen Titel *If An Angel Came To See You, Would You Make Her Feel At Home?*, stand dann auch ein erfolgstechnischer Wandel am Produzentenpult zu Buche.
