MonopriceDigital Coax & Optical Toslink to R/L Stereo Audio Converter

This unit is designed to convert the Digitial Audio output from, for instance, your large flatscreen TV to be Analog Audio at line-level. It can accept, as input, either the OPTICAL output via fiber-optic cable or COAXIAL output via standard RCA-phono cable, from your audio source.The problem I ran into was that the DIGITAL output from my TV was "Dolby" and, it appears, this unit wants on "PCM" encoded digial audio. The net result was that the unit would not work with my TV set. There's nothing wrong with the unit but I was not aware that "NOT ALL DIGITAL AUDIO IS CREATED USING THE SAME FORMAT".In my case I found the unit WOULD work with the Digital Audio output from my DVD player - but WOULD NOT WORK with the digital audio output from my TV.Bottom line: Make sure you know what kind of DIGITAL FORMAT is being output from your device.

I purchased one of these and had to return it because the TOSLINK port was lose and producing static. The second one, I was very careful when inserting the cable. It still can produce static but if I position it just right, hiding it behind my receiver, it works great. So hopefully it can just stay put and keep working. I'll update this if it starts to fail. Note, I also tried using the Digital RCA port with a TOSLINK to Digital RCA converter in between. Pairing the 2 converters didn't work.

Simple to use and worked with little to no effort, just remove dit from the box and plugged in the toslink cable then the rca composite cables into my stereo and sound was coming out perfectly from our 49" LG tv, great deal!

I bought this hoping to be able to use my old stereo with my new tv that only has optical out. However, when I connected it all I heard was something that sounded like a helicopter. I tested the optical out on my tv with a stereo that accepts optical and it worked fine. I don't know if I just got a faulty unit or it's just a faulty design. For 13 bucks I figure I will just eat it. Good luck

I'm using this with a new projector, converting the digital audio output to analog to connect to an old receiver. There is a small delay between the video and audio using this. It's a small delay, a split second behind the video, but noticeable.

perfect for converting our old as dinosaurs projection tv into something i can use my samsung bluray on! you wouldn't believe whats all back behind there in order to use the cable...works well, very little quality loss considering.

decent converter, definitely good for the price it's offered at. Monoprice goods are usually inexpensive with good quality and this was no different. I did end up returning it and buying a different one, this one only supports up to 96KHz sampling rate, and the sound quality was lacking a little bit - I returned it for one that offers 192KHz sampling and it made a noticeable difference - I ended up paying double for that one though

Product work as expected. NIcely priced product to convert digital to analog, The product plugged in easily. Easy solution for connecting older and newer technologies together.

This is a replacement for an identical one which didn't last long. I hope this one fairs better.
