My seven year old grandson loves these books and they are easy for him to read

I love Minecraft and I decided to buy this series to read through with my daughter.I was interested in a story where a group of friends enter a game, get stuck, and work together to adapt and escape. This story is nothing like that. They freely bounce back and forth between the game and their school while trying to solve problems in one that helps them solve a problem in the other. It was quite a leap between the problems in one world and the other- same with the solutions. It seemed forced and lackluster. I did like how each character played a different version of Minecraft so each had information to add.The school portions bored both of us so I ended up skipping through them until I found something that might be relevant to the game portions.Obviously, there are some modern political issues subtly woven into these stories. If you are sensitive to your kids being exposed to political campaigns without you present, take note.Art: The game world art was well done. The “real world” art was really close to the calarts style. I’ll let you decide on whether it is good or bad. The page illustrations always seemed to be a page late. We would read a page, turn the page, and see an image of what we just read. It was distracting.I would not recommend this

I bought these for a friend's son who is really into Minecraft. Since his mom says he has a lot of toys and is usually gifted more toys, I figured this would be a nice educational gift to give that would also help nurture his interest in reading.

My 8 year old loves Minecraft and really enjoys reading this series. The books are age appropriate and I really appreciate that there is not any insulting language, very kid friendly.
