Keep a spray bottle handy with 50/50 white vinegar-water. Clean windows, countertops, showers, vegetables, silicone mats, etc. Great for glass stovetops, cleans pesticides off vegetables-fruit-etc. Any chemical smell with new silicone products should dissipate rapidly, but place them in the sink and spray with the 50/50 mix, let sit, then rinse.

No, they don't have a lip. They are entirely flat.

I did not know what safegrabs are but I can tell you that these are a great product. They do what they say they do and are of good quality.

I don't know how thick the original safe grab mats were. I'm very happy with the ones I bought. Keep one in the micro all the time.
