Great clay
So far, I really really like this. I am using it for a school project. I made a giant pot with about nine pounds of the clay and it seemed to be very very nice. I'm used to working with little packs of clay from blick that are hard and grainy to start out with, but I am actually very happy that it turned out the way it did. The thing is, the pot took me 7 hours to make today, and I'm getting heavily graded on it so I'm praying it doesn't crack. I've seen so many reviews saying it cracks after drying, and I don't know what my back up plan would be. Does anyone know if you can just patch up the cracks with some more fresh clay? Anyway, so far I really love it.

Not what you might think it is
I was wondering why there were so many bad reviews, but I took a chance. I now see why, because this clay is the type that can be fired in a kiln (as it says on their website). If you've ever worked with that type of clay, like I have, you know exactly what it's like. No, it doesn't really stay together unless you slip and score it. It will crumble apart if the pieces are too thin. It turns to mush if you get it too wet even when dried. But that's just what that type of clay does.Unfortunately the package and Amazon both don't give enough information, but from their site:"Air-dried clay is fragile and should be coated with shellac to give it some strength and seal it from moisture. To make pieces hard and permanent, bisque fire in a kiln to Cone 04 (1971°F, 1077°C) before decorating"I wouldn't recommend this for kids unless you have a kiln, because honestly the things they make probably won't stay together. Buy crayola air dry clay for that purpose. If you know what you're getting, this clay is fun to play around with even if you don't have a kiln. I've used it to create figures by balling it up, letting it dry, and carving away the clay (which is very easy to do). Doing this, the figures don't fall apart unless you make it too thin, and you can make it pretty detailed. When it's carved, dust and small pieces fall off that can be collected and reformed into the wet clay with water to create more things.

Second box I'm purchasing.
I like this clay. Have purchased it before in a different color and used it for all kinds of crafty projects. This color was on sale so thought l'd try it for a change. Easy to work with. Dries fast. Worth the price.
