Not the Go To Trowel for Skim Coating a Ceiling
The finish on this is great it does not corrode and promotes a smooth finish. The construction is very solid. These comments are based on using this for skim coating only. I bought this to skim coat a ceiling after removing the popcorn finish. This is the first ceiling skim coating project I've skim attempted so I'm not an expert at this. The Kraft PL460PF Trowel was advertised as a plastering trowel. It is very ridged and does not flex at all like most trowels I found. There is a rough strip right down the center of the trowel surface where the rivets were machined off which does not effect the performance at all but I don't see that on any other finishing trowels. I found the smooth rubber finish of the handle produced more friction when using for a long periods of time causing sore spot in the crook of my hand just below the thumb. The 5 inch width the trowel has a tendency to easily get suction stuck to the ceiling if you allow it to go flat on the surface. There is no bevel on the edges and corners so it's hard to get a finish without trowel marks working with drywall compound. I bought another Trowel MARSHALLTOWN MXS66D 16 X 4" Finishing Trowel w/ Curved DuraSoft Handle which works much better for this purpose. The 4 inch trowel width is really better for smoothing out the compound on the ceiling and the round curved handle has a softer texture which rolls in the hand more easily with less friction. I'll keep the Kraft it a sturdy trowel and works well in tight areas with 14 inch width. It's just not the go to trowel for a large surface skim coat.

Works great for DIY
Great for a first time plasterer. Used for kitchen wall and bathroom ceiling with good effect -- smooth. Handle comfortable, tool cleans up well, no rust indications after 1 week. I rounded the corners just a bit as recommended on a DIY plasterer site, that helped with less gouging by catching with sharp corners. Now, on to the next wall, and the next...and all those ceilings. But definitely worth it to preserve existing plaster with plaster buttons (one inch washers) and two light coats of lime based plaster (breathable plaster NOT ubiquitous, gypsum based joint compound that does not breath and more likely to need sanding...). You might choose a slightly smaller size if a beginner as it's easier to manage. Definitely practice on a smaller, less visible wall!

Feels great excellent quality and excellent quality control.
Feels good almost like itβs broken in already. Great construction and excellent quality control. Comes packaged very well. No issues at all. I will stick w/ this brand. I ordered a different tool by Marshalltown and it was bent slightly and not in a good way.
