LEGO 42116 Technic Skid Steer Loader

This is one of Lego's 2021 Technic sets and about the only one I like from this years meagre offerings especially based on price.Of major note, there are NO STICKERS at all in this set. 2 plates (1×1 and a 1×2) have printed details which is good but the detailing is nothing new and has been seen in many other sets in the past.My set arrived in Amazon cardboard packaging - not a box. Luckily, the Technic box was not crushed or damaged.I bought this for £8.99 with free Smile Amazon Prime delivery. The RRP is £8.99 and on Lego.com it is also £8.99....BUT you have to pay around £3.45p extra postage costs. I'm quite sure more people will buy this set from Amazon Prime rather than direct from Lego due to the cheaper price.It's quite a nice, intricate build with a geared raising /lowering bucket and separate tilting action for the bucket scoop too. It's still not as good as vintage Technic that was fully studded and had more features; older sets were built to a scale for use with Technic Maxi Figures - which are sorely missed - Lego never listen to what collectors want as many have requested their return.I don't like some of the colours used on this model - cream connectors on the rear wheels and brown beams on the front wheel? Better if the designers would have used light grey on all 4 wheels as that makes more sense. Also, the use of yellow short cross beam axles? Odd. Colour for colours sakes.It took me about 30mins to build. I actually built it whilst the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson delivered his Lockdown address to the nation last night, on the 4th of January 2021. As such, this set will make a nice diversion for many during these strange times.For £8.99 with free delivery it's a nice little set so I recommend it on that basis and have given the set 5 stars.

My little man loves lego and diggers! What else could I ask for in a lego kit than this! He's only 5 so building it was a little hard for him but if I told him which part to put where then he was fine. Once built it's fun to use, it has 2 adjustor's for the boom and the bucket so you can move earth or just other lego bricks! Great little addition to his other lego and would definitely recommend

Gifted to a child. They said harder to build than expected but good to have 2 sets in 1 box using the same pieces. Great price on sale.

Really good for people with special needs

This was one of his presents for his birthday. He was entertained for all of 5 minutes and then left me to finish off. No complaints as I love Lego and it’s an excuse to be a kid again. Some of the steps were a little complicated but all in all a good little activity. The quality is excellent and the functionality of the gears and levers is really fun. Would recommend for 9 plus.

My 6yo son has jumped into Technic in a big way. This is a nice accessible set which he could build unaided in around 30 mins. The fact there is a second build (a buggy) is a big plus. As with all Lego/Technics, it is great that the bits from this set can go toward other creations he thinks up.

Just as great as any other lego technical build. Also small enough to take in the car or just build at home
