Such a nice, inexpensive front/back-up cam!I've been doing a complete overhaul of my 1994 Honda Accord's interior and wanted to top it all of with a backup camera as I'd never had one and all my interior panels were off anyway so why not just run one more wire?!I had purchased a different camera before this one and I was so disappointed at the installation process - it wasn't one wire for the old camera it was two. The video and another line to the head unit's reverse trigger. Oh well, live and learn.The video quality on the old camera was terrible so even though I knew it would be more work and money I went hunting for a better camera... and then I found this one.I wasn't sure about the custom power connector this camera has as it was different from what I had already installed and I wanted to try and use the existing wire from the old camera, but I love it! I had the old camera attached to the license plate and the video/power cables running up through the license plate light fixture - not an ideal way to get the cables into my car, but it worked.With the small thin custom connector, I was able to drill a very tiny hole right above the license plate between the two plate lights and it looks so much much better without the risk of cracking the plastic light fixture I was going through. The hole was so easy and small just took a little squirt of clear weather proof silicone and done!I also like how this camera has a much lower profile since most of it mounts behind your plate.Install was super easy using the video, power and reverse line to the head unit I had already installed, but how freaking sweet that they included this reverse wire! Had I of gotten this camera first, I'd of not had to run that extra wire.I love how they give you the option of having the reverse grid on or off. I get why it's a wire and not a switch. Once installed typically you just leave it alone. I'm going to get another one for the front of my car and will cut the wire so I don't have the grid lines.Perhaps the most important thing is the video quality which is superb! It has a great field of view and really there is no real reason to turn my head to look behind me, but old habits are hard to break.Overall it's a very nice back-up cam!

I had to replace the first one because water got inside & corroded connection causing the connection to come undone.With new one installed, I have my view backing up back.Good wide view to make sure that driver does not hit anything and to watch for other vehicles.Drivers remember, look all around when backing.Drivers that are backing up do not have the right of way.

I bought this camera October 2017 and installed it on April 2018 on my 2006 Ford Ranger. Initially the picture was excellent and the camera worked great. I was extremely please on how well the camera and bracket fit on my truck. This September 2019 I found the back-up camera image had white spots and was very blurry. I tried cleaning the camera lens and was able to remove most of the white spots however there are still some spots I am unable to remove (1st picture - bottom left of the image). I inspected the camera closely and noticed the inside of the Lens for the LEDs is stained (2nd picture - note brown stains on each side). I noticed the mounting screws for the camera had become rusty. (3rd & 4th picture - screws are rusty) I suspect the camera has a leak and the rain water is running over the screws and into the camera. I contacted VOX to get some assistance but have been advised that the camera has a 1 year warranty therefore they are unable to assist. I would like to use the same camera but I am not sure that would be wise. Update: I received a response from VOX (Joanne), based on the documentation I provided they would send me a new camera. The camera arrived, I compared the new camera to the old camera and you can see the difference in the lens clarity especially over the LED area. I installed the new camera and the picture is clear and sharp. I am extremely impressed with the support from VOX and based on this I am changing my rating to a 5.

I installed it on my SUV and it works well giving a clear and wide view to the rear. It was difficult to feed the cable through the grommets between the rear door to the body of the SUV. I taped the connector to the end of a wire hanger and fed it through then removed the tape. I also ran 2 additional wires based on advice I saw on Youtube and that paid off later. I did not test the camera before installing it and when I finished installing it, I hooked up the power and it did not work. One of the connectors had a loose connection or short. I emailed auto-vox to see if I could get a new wire and they responded quickly advising me to return the whole thing and order another one. The second one has been working for about a month. At first, I connected to the backup lights so that it would go on when I put the transmission in reverse. I decided to change to full time power so that I could view the rear anytime I want. That was easy to do because of those extra 2 wires I ran. I only had to use one - the positive lead. I used a quick connect/disconnect connector so that I could switch easily. Using the camera when I'm not sure what's in my blind spot gives me a better view of my blind spots than I get with my mirror. That means that the LEDs are on all the time but for power I used a lighter access plug with a multi-port cigarette lighter power adapter that I can turn off if I want. I don't bother. I've driven behind it in another car and the LEDs are not a distraction for the car behind. I wish I had a way of wiring them to the on/off switch on the monitor but I don't. I don't leave the monitor on all the time because it's a distraction and even dizzying. The view gets blurry if the camera gets wet or has ice on it. It needs to be wiped clean occasionally before getting into the car. It's not a problem that occurs often and you can still see even when it's wet - just not as well. I like the way it sits above the license plate not covering any of it.

I used this camera to replace a backup camera in my Santa Fe Sport. The OEM camera allowed water inside over time and corroded. Hyundai charges over $200 USD to replace it so instead I bought the Auto-Vox CAM1 for a fraction of the price and wired it into my OEM system.The CAM1 works perfectly with my OEM head-unit. Picture quality is just as good or better than the OEM camera, plus it's better position (dead-center) and provides superior vision in the darkThe image from the camera is mirrored like the OEM camera, and you have the option of turning on parking guidelines or leaving them off (default). The plastic module on the cable has a spot for a switch to enable/disable image mirroring but it's empty, so if you don't want the image mirrored then you might be out of luck. Fortunately the OEM system was mirrored so this felt normal.If you'll be replacing an OEM camera like I did, you'll be happy to know it's very simple to do. I opened the plastic module on the cable and desoldered the wires meant to be run into the vehicle. In their place I soldered the OEM wires. My vehicle had a white wire as well as the red, black, and yellow, but I simply didn't connect it and things work perfectly.If I ever had to replace my camera again I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat. If I had a vehicle that didn't come with a camera, I'd probably buy the camera + the mirror.

I have yet again impressed by the quality and price offered by auto-vox in their car gadget offerings. I have recently replace the center console on my 15 years old van and the console offers a plug for camera input. So i started search for rear view backup camera on amazon and this is the first product that I found to have a great price. Based on my past experience with AUTO-VOX products I didn't even hesitate to order this camera right away. The camera was packaged in a well designed retail packaging unlike the other chinese knock-off from ebay I have seen people order online. The camera itself if mounted on a piece of quality metal plate and can easily be mounted behind the license plate without showing too much. The camera itself is IP68 rated, that means it is water and dust proof. This way you don't have to worry about rainy days and all the muds you drive through. The camera will survive and offer you the view you want to see when you are backing up the car. One important thing to notice is that this is camera only, this product does not come with a monitor, you might have to purchase the monitor separately if you don't have a center console that offers a screen with camera input. Another good thing about this product is that it is very easy to install and hide the wires if you follow the manual step by step. The camera also has LED attached to it so that you don't have to worry about by lighting in dark environment. They are bright enough to light up at trail behind you LOL.

Overall an good camera and provides an excellent picture quality. This was my main concern, is having a good picture, which this camera most definitely delivered.The two minor issues I did have, were one of the yellow connectors breaking, and the fact the the camera's position doesn't capture a part of the rear bumper which would have made it easier to back up.
