Great at what it does...cutting the user.
Seriously, I like this thing, but no matter what I do, I bleed on this thing.Don't get me wrong, it's a great slicer (or "mandolin"). Handles the work easily and makes slices of almost any thickness.But...TWO PROBLEMS!1) The little handle thingie is fiendish. I swear, it never holds what I want to slice unless it's an apple. That's it...ONLY an apple. Try slicing ginger on this thing...or h*ll...try lettuce. They needed to redesign the handle...so I use my hands, instead...which, invariable, leads to me bleeding at some point - but that's my fault for not using the handle.2) The thickness setting needs pre-sets. It doesn't hold itself level on the full length of the sliding tray, so you need to be very careful about applying any pressure...and if you do, it will drift in thickness as you slice. Again, it's kind of operator error, but presets could hold everything in place. But, I love this thing. I use it all the time. Ginger roots, lettuce, tomatoes, fingers...oh, yeah. It's great for blood letting. Virtually every surface on this thing is sharp. Not just the blade, but the thickness setting is also razor sharp, too. Occam had this in mind when he was waxing philosophical.Anyway, it's decent...just be VERY careful and you'll get your money's worth.

Better than the 378, but not much.
The SISSAMS is sturdier than the 378, but still needs a heavier food holder to make the slicing and cutting smoother. The only major deficiency is, when trying to slice the setting must be on one of the preset selections, if an attempt is made to slice anything between the settings the platform sinks, so the slices become thicker than desired. This is especially true of onions. The two settings are not what we prefer for our cheeseburger slices, but attempts to get something in the middle require resetting the depth every 1 or 2 slices.I would really suggest getting a heavier food holder, a lot of elbow grease is required to French fry potatoes. My food holder developed a hairline crack after just a couple of uses. I'm hoping for better results when my zucchini and cucumber plants start producing. The SISSAMS is probably more appropriate for those types of food.

A must-have in my kitchen!
I have had several mandolines, I have yet to find one that is sharp enough to be more useful than frustrating, and easy to clean and store, until I purchased this one. I sliced a cucumber for a salad plate in about 15 seconds flat...all at the uniform perfect thickness I wanted. Shredded lettuce, cabbage, an absolute breeze! Julienne vegetables...perfect! I have not yet tried the thicker-cut blade for french fries or larger cuts, but have no doubt I will not be disappointed. One word of advice....ALWAYS USE the food-holder...or better yet, wear cut-resistant kitchen gloves. You will definitely lose a finger or at least a piece of it if you are not extremely careful since this model is super-sharp. I was extremely cautious the first time I used it and did not lose a finger, but shortly after realized I did lose half a fingernail. I also recommend storing it up high if you have children, or a husband that tries to be helpful but has no business in the kitchen in the first place, much less around dangerous sharp objects :-)

Sliced my finger as it cut my squash like butter. Had to have 4 stitches
Heed the warning, the blade is sharp. Sliced my finger as it cut my squash like butter. Had to have 4 stitches. The handheld part that attaches to the veggies is not so great and it does not seem to fit appropriately. Mine was slicing part of the plastic on the sides (yep, it even sliced through the holder) Does what is supposed to do but it is dangerous. Not worth it to me to have it.

I love the adjustable blades on the unit and the fact ...
This unit works well, but it is very sharp and there is no cover for the blade when storing. I love the adjustable blades on the unit and the fact there are no blades to interchange.

Worked well for a while
I had higher expectations for this mandoline. It worked very well for about 6 months, then suddenly broke. It was only used to slice potatoes, so I wasn't especially hard on it, and it should have lasted much longer. If you're going to use your mandoline regularly (mine was used 2-3 times per week), then look for a tougher one.

Three Stars
Kind of flimsy, first time owning one not sure if that's the way it should be.

Easy to use
It is easy to handle and easy to store. So far, I've only used it for making thin fried potatoes. Couldn't believe how fast and easy the potatoes were to slice.
