Not exactly the original pattern.
I received the order in record time. I ordered four salad forks to replace ones lost over the years. I bought my original set of Michelangelo by Oneida back in 1977. They are now 42 years old and in beautiful condition! I took a closeup picture of one of my original forks (bottom) and one I just received (top). While to the casual glance they look very similar, if you zoom on the image and take a close look, there are marked differences. For example, the flowers are different. The pattern of the new ones lack the depth of the pattern in the old one. The old one looks like an heirloom. The new one looks run-of-the-mill. It's a shame that Oneida has not kept the integrity of the original pattern. The new ones have the symbol in back, a square box with an enclosed "O." Is this supposed to designate it as original? If so, this must be a later branding because my 1977 set does not have the symbol. Overall, I'm glad to have found replacement pieces, but I would have liked them to be identical.

Too bad this is not the real Oneida Flatware Manfactured in New York State
I have had my Oneida flatware since 1975 when I got married. This original flatware was manufactured in New York State by quality craftsmen! I loved it and still do. I had to find my pattern because one of my spoons ended in the garage disposal because I wasn't careful enough!! OK--these spoons through the New Oneida store come from overseas! It is not the same! They try to come close but it just isn't there. I can tell the difference right off. You see the original company left New York and the people who worked there started up their own business--Liberty Tabletop located in Sherrill, NY. Now these people know how to make quality flatware. You are going to pay a good price but you can not beat their products and they are make in the USA! Bottom line--I am not very happy with the spoons from Oneida/overseas.

Love these spoons
I wanted silverware similar to what my grandmother had when I was growing up. I think hers was a mismatched collection of real silver silverware that had been passed down through generations. It was worn and had lost its shine. However, it was very decorative. I loved eating ice cream with the really decorative teaspoons. When I was looking to buy a set of silverware, I didn’t find much like hers that I could afford. I wanted stainless steel. I was afraid that food would get stuck in the holes in this design. I haven’t had that problem, but I only bought the spoons. I bought an ivy patterned set of silverware. I love the spoons though. They are special and using them enhances the experience of eating treats. They have a nice weight and are comfortable in the hand and mouth. They are beautiful and shinny. The clean easily. I recommend them.

Heavier than my 1986 versions
These were ordered to replace some of the ones we’ve lost over the past 36 years since receiving a set as wedding gifts. These spoons are the exact same size but noticeably heavier; using my postal scale, I found they weigh 1.7 ounces vs. the 1.3 ounces of my 1986 set. The edges of the spoon are more rounded and polished than my old set. The angle between the spoon and handle is greater than the old set. The only other difference is the “O” stamped on the underside of each spoon. Oneida took a great spoon and made it even better.
