This unit is actually a replacement for an almost identical model that has been failing with messages about being out of ink, even though there is plenty of ink in the genuine Brother cartridges. At one point the earlier printer wouldn't print at all, but it is printing normally now despite the warning messages. I bought this printer as a backup because it appears Brother is discontinuing all the printers that use those particular ink cartridges. The earlier printer worked fine attached to a Windows laptop via USB and also connected over the Google cloud for use by a Chromebook. That all works fine and was pretty easy to set up.

This Brother Printer provides all the requirements I need, scans, copies, faxes, & just plain prints. It is pretty fast, the quality is great for and ink jet printer. Best of all, the ink cartridges are the cheapest I have found. These generic cartridges have worked very well for me on my previous Brother printer which I had for about 9 years, but finally decided just to go with and updated printer. Installation was super easy and it connects wirelessly quickly to my WiFi router & ISP. In order to receive the free shipping I had to wait about two weeks but it was well worth the wait. I highly recommend this printer and Brother's online support.

Super easy to use, excellent price, fast shipping! For a basic printer, copier, scanner, the Brother Inkjet is very good and won't bust your budget.

The setup was easy. I did not have any issues getting my phone connected to the printer. All I had to do was download the “iPrint&Scan” App from the App Store. The printer has worked great so far. The ink was very easy to install... it was actually the easiest install I’ve ever had. I’m so glad that I am able to print web articles, pictures, emails, and notes all from my mobile device. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I fully appreciate the two-sided printing, wi-fi and other features. Very happy I upgraded to get it. The concern I have is the that Brother company wants to make it difficult to by-pass using their ink. Buyers have the right to use any ink they decide to use.

My husband bought this machine but I do use it. The finish is rather cheap and plastic. It does all functions but is slow especially on double sided printing. Despite how I feel about this machine, my guess is that none of today's machines are quality built to last and the more features, the more goes wrong.

Slow, cheap feeling & buggy. Every day was new error message. I tolerated it for a week and sent it back. I've used Brother printers before and they've always been good. Not this time.

I could not use the printer.

This printer serves my purposes very well, I did a lot of research before settling on this model and I am very satisfied with my purchase. The print quality is excellent and the print speed is relatively fast if you select normal quality black and white. Set-up was easy and it connects wirelessly with all my devices, I like the scan to e-mail feature even though it goes through Brother's server. E-printing from my family's mobile phones and tablets is also quite easy. There is space for both legal and letter sized paper and the tray easily folds up when done printing. The touch screen is very easy to use and the screen size is just right. The price on Amazon was equivalent to the price on the manufacturer's website so I went with Amazon since shipping was faster and Amazon customer service is so easy to deal with.

Love brothers for the ink cheapness. Never regretted. Changed my MFC-495CW to this one and couldn't be happier !

Pretty good printer. Was a bit finicky with the WPS connection but it did connect eventually.Other than that, it's just a little slow to print. If you're printing hundreds of pages, probably not for you. If you print once in awhile like I do, nice little printer.
