Tuffy's Pet Food Nutrisource Large Breed Dog Chicken/Rice Food, 30 lbs

I’ve had 2 boxers over 20 years who have eaten this food. I had to buy some on Amazon when Pet Flow ran out. Highly recommended

So I went to a local pet store in town that carries a LOT of dog food. When I stepped inside, I had no idea what I was looking for or what the difference was between hundreds of different dog foods. So a helpful employee gave me some tips. He explained to me that the 'low quality' dog foods, like science diet, purina, kibbles n bits, etc. contain a lot of fillers. That is, ingredients that provide no nutritional value to the dog. Translation = WAY more poop to pick up. Then there is the mid-grade dog food, like Nutrisource, that contains fewer fillers. That means the dog eats less, poops less, and is getting better nutrition from his food. I checked the labels of probably 15 different foods and this nutrisource brand looked like it had the best value. Yes, it's more expensive than your lower quality stuff, but the dog will also eat less of it. When my dog was on purina, he was eating about 3.5 cups a day. Since switching to nutrisource, he eats about 2.5 cups. So in the end, this better quality food is not a whole lot more expensive. I know it's unplesant to think about, but I should mention that since switching to nutrisouce, my dog farts a lot less and his poop stinks a lot less too, a very nice bonus for the responsible dog owner who needs to pick it all up.I would recommend this food for any large breed dog. My dog is 70 lbs, german sheppard/chow mix. The "large bites" food should be used for any dog over 35 lbs or so, as the chewing will also help keep their teeth clean!

I have been buying this food for my Golden Retriever for 3 years and she has loved it. I bought a new bag last month and on the second week of eating it her poop became loose and covered with a slime. The next 2 days it got wetter and wetter until it was liquid. I stopped the food and had her checked for parasites and she was negative. SO, I fed her chicken and rice or hamburger and potato and he stools firmed up and no slime. After 1 1\2 weeks of slowly adding back the kibble a little at a time she was fine. So, I tried Only the kibble again. The slime started and her stools are softening again. I don't know if I got a bad bag or something but I am not feeding it to her. This is expensive food and I cannot afford to lose money or hurt my dogs stomach. It's disappointing.

I have a small Great Dane and my brother has two large Great Danes. We feed all three dogs this food. He went through a few different brands with his first dog and this was the only one recommended by vets that didn't upset the dog's stomach. Although it is on the expensive side, you only have to feed a big dog about 4 cups a day.When I adopted my dog, I was told she occasionally vomited up her food. They said they had tried a few different brands, but it kept happening. I started her on this food, and she has not had an upset stomach once. The pieces are also much larger to encourage the dog to chew and clean their teeth. The plaque on my dog's teeth has gone down since I adopted her.All around, this is the perfect food for big dogs!

Good product! My dog loves it. The price is comparable to my local feed store and I don’t have to lug a 30 lb bag to my car. Lol. No issues whatsoever with freshness like I read in other reviews. I’ll probably buy at my feed store when I’m not in a rush (or when they are out of stock) because I believe in supporting local businesses but this was a solid purchase and I’d do it again. I like that the carb source is rice and not corn. Also, my dog’s poop is fewer and denser. Gross, I know but you dog owners know what I mean. Recommend.

German Shepard does great with this food

I tried this food after checking an impartial list of dog foods evaluating foods for dogs based on the nutrional value available to them in the food. My dogs seem to like it--they eat it. Although it says large breed, my 13 year old chihuahua/dachshund had no problem eating the round flat kibble. I like that there is no offensive odors nor greasy residue. I should have checked the bag more closely before my husband recycled it; I'm not sure how much/many vegetables are present nor the recommended amount to feed. My dogs coat still looks good and I don't have to. bribe them to eat. I'll know better in 2 months how this food is for them. Delivery was prompt, but the box was falling apart!

This is the dog food the breeder of our Golden Retriever recommended. He has never had any intestinal issues. His coat is shiny and he loves the taste of it. We continue to feed twice a day and add a little water to moisten it. Because he wolfs his food down, we divide his portion in half at each feeding. The vet agrees that he is one healthy dog! The bag it comes in is thick-we have never had any punctures to it. And that bag is then inside a box which adds to the protection during shipping.
