Riich Models USS Los Angeles Class Flight II (VLS) Attack Submarine 1:350 Scale Military Model Kit

Tedious, but nice
Let's start with the good...nice hull detailing, photo-etched nameplate, decals for several different subs. The bad...three-piece main hull makes for some tricky fitting. EXTREMELY tiny parts make for difficult detailing opportunities. The decals do not separate well in water. Generally speaking, the end product was nice, but I've built better. The stand was a distinct feature, giving the overall presentation some class. The antenna array on the superstructure turned out well, and they give you the parts to effectively display the sub in a number of ways. The lower half of the hull is split into two pieces. The top of the hull fits over them. I had some trouble lining them up. They give you the option to have the aft planes moveable, but you have to be really careful with the cement to make it work. It's a good kit, but a little more thought could have gone into the design.

Excellent!
Love it! Not too big and not too small. I wanted this kit because I am a huge fan of the movie, The Hunt for Red October! The kit almost went together itself. Very fine detail. The plastic is good, not too soft. There are decals for one boat, USS Chicago SSN-721. I believe one could build this as a full hull or a waterline model. There are a number of very small pieces but that is an expectation of dealing with a 1/350 scale model. I think the paint instructions are a little off. From an aircraft modeler, this was a very nice change of course for me. I would recommend this kit for intermediate and advanced model builders.
