First up--there's nothing wrong with the stencil itself, IMO. However, I deducted a star because it was shipped in a tube, and try as I might, I cannot get the curl out of the ends. That turned out to be a particular problem with this stencil, due to the rest of my "user experience."I've done craft stenciling before, but this was my first try with something this size. As instructed, I practiced on cardboard, which I set on a table (i.e., it's horizontal). So far, so good. Very pretty, in fact!On to the wall... this turned out to be an entirely different kettle of fish. I just moved in to a fairly standard, 20 year-old development house. I don't think anyone would look at the walls and say that they're "textured." But straight-up painted drywall is not perfectly flat! Because this stencil has LOTS of space where the paint goes, and the "bridges" between scallops are very narrow (<1/4"), AND the slightly curled ends made it even more difficult to adhere flat to the wall, every tiny bump might as well have been a mountain! I tried it both with and without adhesive spray, and there is just no way I could get a clean edge and really symmetric scallops. (And yes, I followed instructions to use VERY LITTLE PAINT.) I painted a column, hated it, and reprimed and repainted the base color. Figured I'd learned some things, tried again, painted three columns... no. One more try; I decided to forge ahead and do the whole wall; maybe it would look better as an overall view, not looking at each imperfection. After that, I gave up on this stencil. If your wall is really REALLY flat and straight, and you have stencilled before, you might have better luck than I did.Please note: I didn't give up on the whole stencilling idea! I just decided to use stencils with a much more organic look. I redid the bathroom (where I was trying to used the scallops) with a big "spore", and it looks great! Two differences: the spore has thin radiating lines where the paint goes, and plenty of background, which is opposite of the scallops. And it's organic looking, so all the little imperfections (and there are plenty) just don't show the way they did with something really symmetric. I've also done big organic gingko leaves in the bedroom, and am working on birch trees in the dining room. Much more forgiving!

The tube is a bad idea to ship something that’s supposed to lay flat! That said, it did the job 🤷🏻‍♀️ First timers, strongly suggest incorporating a border, so you don’t have to worry about cutting in the corners and the top and the bottom!

Perfect size for doing scales on a wall. A bit hard to put up with tape but I find that that’s probably more of the tape then the stencil.
