Q: how many come in one order?

One pair in one order. (So a right and left stocking)

Q: has anyone attached these to a garter?

Yes. They really do not stay clipped. I have tried with a couple of garter belts. The good news is they do stay up pretty well without the garters.

Q: How long did you wear these before they tore?

They haven't torn yet for me and I've had them for a month now. Granted I've worn them three times. They seem sturdy enough for normal wear, but I bought them to go with my lingerie.

Q: I am an old lady who finds it impossible to get into pantyhose. can i buy individual leg nylons and maybe a garter belt? or do i need them held up?

They stay up by themselves. No garter belt is necessary.
