Pricey (especially in CAD), but definitely worth it in my opinion!
For the price, I definitely had high expectations for these headphones. Suffice to say, they exceeded themPACKAGING:The unboxing experience alone definitely felt very expensive. Everything was laid out out very nicely and everything from the headphones to the cables to the owner's manual was easy to find. The case, although a soft one, is made of a very nice fabric-y material, and the bottom part of the inside is padded to protect the earcups from external damage. There is also a small pouch near the opening to house cables and strong magnets are used to close and open the pouchBUILD QUALITYThis is one of the main reasons why I chose this over headphones like the Bose QC35II and 700, Sony WH1000MX3, and the Bang and Olufsen H9s. It's clear that Master and Dynamic took pride in making these premium headphones because the metal band and hinges are really dense, cold, and heavy, and the lambskin leather on the headband and swappable earcups is ridiculously soft. Because there's virtually no plastic used, there isn't the issue of creaking or flexing that plagues the competition. Probably the main drawback of that is you do have to be careful with them, so I wouldn't recommend throwing them around carelessly (especially given the price), even though they probably could withstand the beating. The build is definitely where the majority of that hefty price tag was invested in, and honestly, it's worth it!SOUND QUALITYTo start off, it doesn't have ANC, which for some is a major drawback at this price point, especially given that other companies offer it at half or even a third of the price. But for me, I didn't care, and I actually don't really like ANC because I tried it with the QC35II and WH1000MX3, and I hated the "earsuck" phenomenon that happens frequently. So if you don't care about the lack of ANC, or in my case, hate the side effects of it, we can go on to the next partThe sound is AMAZING! At lower levels I can still clearly hear every single detail and at higher levels, there is little to no sound distortion. I listen to a lot of EDM and tracks with a medium to strong bass line, at the slight emphasis on the low end meant that bass was always tight and never came at the expense of clarity and detail of the kids and highs.Speaking of, sibilance is basically non-existent on these headphones, so for fans of electronic and/or instrumental music, the harsh hissing of the "s" and "t" doesn't exist. Vocals are clean and never overshadowed, which is very much appreciated.Biggest drawback: the bass, specifically the amount of it. Despite being well-controlled, it's definitely one of the weaker performing in the competition (probably similar to the B&O H9 or Sennheiser Momentum). I like a lot of bass, and I know about this going into purchasing these headphones, so I'm not exactly surprised. I use an app called Precise Volume, which has a Bass Boost slider. I have a pair of 1MORE Triple Driver headphones, and I put the slider up to +5dB for my desired amount. With the MW50+, I put it up to +7dB.It does redeem this with the fact that no matter how much I turn up the bass slider, it NEVER comes at the expense of clarity and detail which, from my experience with owning cheaper headphones, shows that these are definitely high-end.Bottom line, if you care more about bass than anything else, you can save a lot of money and go elsewhere. The Sonys have a bit more bass and have one of the best performing ANC, but I despise their plastic-y and fragile build quality, which with their price tag was disappointing in my opinion. If you want bass and nothing else, I suggest the Skullcandy Crusher headphones with the rumbling bass slider. They are definitely not the clearest or detailed, but you can't deny that bass slider is hella cool!BATTERY LIFEI can't really say much, mainly because I haven't killed them even once so far. It's rated at 16 hours, which sounds short, but in real life, if should be more than enough. I only use my headphones at a maximum of 2-3 hors max per listening session (at school, in the backseat of a car, on the bus/train, or at home), and as of this review, it's only at 40% (according to my phone, anyway). The good thing is that unlike the majority of Master and Dynamic's lineup, these use USB-C, so charging up is pretty quick, and if you have a newer Android phone (I have an S10+), you can use the same cable to charge these headphones.SWAPPABLE EARCUPSOf course, I can't forget about these headphones coolest feature: swappable earcups, allowed you to choose between an over-ear and on-ear experience. In the box, they come with the on-ear pads attached (as seen in the photos), which provide a "richer sound". Honestly, they sounded kind of muffled to me so I immediately switched to the over-ear pads (which come in the cylindrical leather case in the middle of the headphones). These ones have a brighter and airier sound signature, which I live for, but your preference may varhKeep in mind, and this doesn't apply exclusively to these MW50+, but pretty much all headphones, if you have thick glasses, they might comprise the sound because it breaks the seal between your ears and the headphones, which means a slightly weaker bass response (despite the thick padding of the earcups). I would recommend taking of your glasses while wearing these to ensure the bast sound, or if you can, switch to thinner framed glasses or contacts if you really need to see. If you don't wear or need glasses, lucky you. There's been a lot of people who have complained that the magnets used to hold the earcups into place are too weak, and everytime they take it out of the pouch or off their head, they come off, but I have not experienced any of those problems. I don't know if it's because I have more recent ones, but the area of the earcups that line up the magnets and headphones is pretty tight and flush, so there's a stronger grip, but I do notice that I have to push on the inside of the earcups to make sure the earcups is fully secured to the magnets on the headphones. Not really a problem, but just something to know if you were curious about the whole magnet situationOVERALL THOUGHTSIf you have the cash and the means to afford these headphones, I would definitely recommend them, and if you happen to have an Amazon gift card or find these at a discount, I would definitely go for it. Granted I've only had them for less than a month, but my initial impressions of these headphones are excellent. Can you find a good sound experience at a cheaper price? Absolutely! The Sennheiser Momentum have a detailed albeit flatter response, the JBL Elite 700 is a great all-rounder, the Skullcandy Crushers are bass champs and that slider is one of the best innovative features I've seen so far on headphones, and the 1MORE Triple Driver Over-Ear headphones have probably the best bang-for-buck in terms of sound and build quality for well under $200 although it is WIRED, not Bluetooth. But the Master and Dynamic MW50+ offer a truly unique experience with the combination of the stellar build and sound quality, and the unique swappable magnetic earcups that give the choice between an on-ear or over-ear experience (rather than making them separate). The latter makes long-term repairability and parts replacement easier compared to everything else, so if you want to repair a certain part or need to replace the earcups, you can do it in most cases without having to send the headphones back to the manufacturerOverall, I am happy I bought these as my long-term investment because I don't want to constantly spend money on headphones that are basically built to be disposable (looking at you QC35II and WH1000MX3). The initial sticker shock is there, but once you try them, you definitely understand the price tag (unlike Bang and Olufsen, who pretty much charges more for a more basic experience in my opinion). So yeah, get them, and if they're on sale, definitely get them!

5 stars but with a couple of observations.
These are great sounding headphones, but they are not perfect. There are two things I think are worth mentioning about these:1. You get both on-ear and over-ear pads on the box. By default, they have the on-ear ones. They are fixated by magnets so it's easy to swap between them. Now, the on-ear ones come by default and sound really bad. Absurd amount of bass. You can listen to mids and highs too, but the bass is always present, taking power over everything else. I believe these would be perfect for bass-heads. for me it's too much and I don't like it. However, when you change to over-ear, bass is way (a lot) more moderate. Not flat at all, but it is not omnipresent, making you enjoy your music. I love that they give you tons of detail, so you can listen to every instrument and voice. they are still a bit on the bass-heavy side, but it is not exaggerated and you can enjoy everything in your recordings.2. Some reviews on the internet claim two things that are related: the magnets are weak for the bigger, over-ear pads and that over-ear pads sound bad. This is only partially true and I guess it comes from something that happened to me when I first tried the over-ear pads. See, the headphones have to small pin thingies and the pads have two small holes where those fit. The on ear pads are smaller and the magnets hold them firmly. Just place them close to the headphone and they will snap, making the pins fit the holes. With the over-ear pads, the magnets are not that strong so you may place them and have the pins not fitting in the holes. I didn't realize this and when I listened to the over-ear all the bass was lost, and they where terribly harsh to listen. Also, the pads fell off easily when manipulating the headphones. I was very dissappointed until I noticed the pins. I pushed gently on the pads to make both pins fit both holes, and then they are firmly held, no accidental falling off, and they come to sound as described on point 1. Take this into consideration when you swap to over-ear.Finally, even when I give them 5 stars, I'd like to remark some cons:I think they should have been engineered in a such a way that the sound didn't change so much when changing pads, or have the description state that the sound signature changes A LOT when swapping pads. It's just not a matter of isolation, they really are two different headphones if you compare both pads. Also for the magnet detail with the over-ear pads, IMHO they should just snap in place like the smaller pads do. And finally because all things considered, I think they are a bit expensive for their sound, even taking into consideration their build quality (which is very good). I'd probably give them 4.5 stars but Amazon just lets me give an integer amount of stars, so all in all, I give the 5.

MW50+ review
You are reading a review for a pair of Master and Dynamic MW50+ . Firstly I had to say that when I first saw these headphones on Amazon's pages . I was a little sceptical of these at the price they cost . So I decided to read the reviews seeing as they had a high rating . So I decided to gamble , and bought a pair of them .I have now been listening to them for a couple of hours now , And I have to say I'm impressed with the sound of these . I also own a pair of B&O H4's . The big difference between both these headphones is quite obvious really . With the B&O's , when you buy them . The sound is very flat , and you need to download the app onto your phone , ipad etc etc to get the sound balance adjusted to your taste . With the Master's , you don't need an app for sound adjustment (there isn't an app anyways) . The sound is pre set for you . And I have to say that the sound is most impressive indeed . Bright and clear highs and mids are superb . The bass is punchy without being overpowering to the other settings . Of course the sound quality is dependant on the bitrate quality of the download or stream you have ? .These "phones do need a period of burning in . But once that's done ? . They should sound even better .I do highly recommend these to anyone who likes their headphones made of a high standard set of materials . See the other reviews for these ? . Are they worth the money ? . I would say yes they are , but after a long think !!!! 8-)
