Nice gun. Easy to work on
Nice gun. Easy to work on. Well designed. I popped the right side off and checked it out and re-lubed everything. 7 fine phillips head screws hold it together. For some reason the factory spring behind the hammer had a bit of slack at the end of the throw, so I shimmed it .090”. May give it a hair more umph. Shot fine without it though. Chronographed at 390 fps on a 70 degree day with fresh C02. The barrel does fit a bit loose inside the slide, but this allows shims to adjust the front sight. I used 1/4” squares of black electrical tape, (slide will stay back if you push the safety up). The rear sight is a bit high, so it can be filed down to adjust. With it apart the C02 thumb tab assembly pops out in 1 piece, so it is easy to replace with a flush homemade nut and bolt requiring a screwdriver. I had the luxury of a lathe to cut a concave mating surface on the panhead bolt head. A machine shop would probably do it for a couple bucks. Accuracy seems decent. I used routine quality BB’s and grouped within 4” at 20’ freestanding. I am no expert at this either! I had some really old Copperhead Crossman BB’s that were a bit less accurate. Marksman BB’s were too big for the barrel. Standard Daisy’s is what I used. If in doubt, get a couple extra magazines. They function very well and are metal and come in handy. The feel of this gun is very nice. Cocking the hammer and shooting targets in single action is great. Double action works well too. This gun has a very convincing real firearm look and feel. I chose it partly because Umarex has a reputation for good seals. It does hold pressure for days, have not tried weeks yet. As for impact power, at 15’ it shot through 1 side of a steel soup can and dented the backside. At 20’ it went through 8 to 9 layers of regular corrugated cardboard box material. It has good power for target practice through at least 100 shots. Probably a lot more, haven’t counted. Too busy having fun!! This gun is a great value for the money.

Perfect Little Pistol - Slip It In Your Pocket, Steel Slide, Hits Hard 18 Rounds, Accurate Enough, Very Authentic
A professionally designed pistol with the safety where it should be, under the thumb, the Makarov is about the size of a Walther PPK/S coming in at just over 6". It is ideal to slip into the pocket, especially for those mean dogs that may confront you. At 20 feet I printed one group with two shots in the 10 ring bull, two shots in the 8 ring and one flyer on a NRA Official 25' Rapid Fire Pistol Target. Except the flyer that's a one inch group, and I think I could put them all in the bull on a steadier day. Previous group as I warmed up was 2". Penetration into a phone book was good, averaging about 88 pages plus the cardboard cover is probably equal to almost a hundred pages, but denting and tearing occurred into 170 pages, so that's good enough power for me and the dogs! After 30 shots it was still putting the BB's well into the phone book to 78 pages plus the cardboard cover, so regular Crosman CO2 cartridge doesn't play out badly. After more than fifty shots it shoots through one side of a heavy Progresso Soup can and heavily dents the backside.A sleek little gun which has a steel working slide and hammer, very crisp fast double action. Slide a bit loose, but expected as not a real firearm. NO TELLTALE PLASTIC SEAMS ON SLIDE, TRIGGER, AND HAMMER! NO LARGE TELLTALE WHITE MARKINGS OF SAFETY WARNINGS, but the warning is small engraved on right side of slide, so doesn't detract from the real gun look. Plastic hammer has a metal ball insert in it to activate the firing pin and snags on single action cocking when magazine is fully loaded and in place. Does not snag when magazine is removed. Plastic trigger and hammer are disappointing. What would it cost to make them steel? I can get a bar of 1018 steel for pennies, about a dollar. You could make a dozen or more hammers from it.Sights are minimal. Front sight is small and thin and does not pick up easily in dim light, but it has an excellent sight rib on top of slide to enable easy tracking. Put some kind of 'White Out' or white paint on front sight.Get yourself extra clips so you can change them and reload in an instant in case you need to shoot right away and the same cartridge should last for more rounds. It takes time to load them, but there is a detent on the magazine to allow you to stack the BB's in, holding it upright of course, and then let the tension back onto the spring. Mag holds 18 rounds, manual says it holds 18.Good finish, looks like a real steel pistol. Most of all it's slim and compact and that's what I wanted. With a shorter barrel and no adjustable sights this doesn't shoot as accurately as my 1008 Repeatair which only holds 8 pellets, but shoots almost as hard and is more than accurate enough to hit dogs with.If that guy who was killed by those two large Cane Corsos up in Michigan had had one of these to discourage the attack he might still be alive! The air pistol would not have killed the dogs but he could have blasted them in the face if they had not stopped. He said something as he was dying like, "please help me, I don't want to die". So pitiful and avoidable, but he was jogging and didn't expect the attack. That's the way it happens, you don't expect it, so be ready. It may seem inhumane to shoot dogs but it is more inhumane to suffer dog-bite and death by dog(s)! Always wear safety glasses when shooting any gun.As the warning says, do not brandish this gun in public, it may alarm people who may think it is an actual firearm. Conclusion: Get this pistol and slip it into your pocket!

decent BB gun, lousy instructions, clueless customer service
Instructions for piercing the cartridge after loading it were for a different model that requires an allen wrench. Unless the hammer is cocked, the trigger takes so much effort to pull that it upsets your aim--would have been useful to have this information in the instructions, rather than have to watch a YouTube video. Had to photograph the gun with the hammer cocked to register it, then couldn't get the magazine to release. The only advice customer service gave me was that I could return it. Turns out that the magazine won't release with the hammer cocked. Again, would have been useful to see this in the instructions, rather than spending half an hour trying to pry the magazine out of the gun and scratching the finish.

MACAROV GUN AND MAG REVIEW
This review is both for the gun and the mags. Firstly the mags...super quality , they fit like a glove. They hold the full amount , but always put your finger behind the hole when filling up ,as the bbs will slip through. The mags are all metal and good quality. Now the gun...very well made and sturdy and realistic too. Power is good enough ,although if the bb can be seen when shooting in daylight ,then there are more powerful pistols. My umarex 9xp for example is way more powerful ,as are all of my other co2 guns ,except the walther ppk, but that's only 300fps at best. Accuracy is spot on though. I shoot at 55ft which is ludicrous ,but I generally get a 6 inch grouping with a few flyers. I paid 57 bux new for this pistol ,and it's worth every penny. It takes about 3 co2 cartridges to wear it in. I got 6 great mags ,1 soso mag ,and 1 embarrassing [ I can spit faster ] mag. Strange thing about this gun is that it's just as powerful using double action as it is single action. Usually theres a slight drop when using double action ,but not with this gun. My only gripe is that it's not blowback ,yes you can rack the slide ,but no blowback. So to sum up...buy one...you'll be glad you did !!!.
