Puffin Sasha's Secret

Sasha's Secret is beautiful and no one can convince me otherwise. It depicts the story of a teen with worries and cares that many of us have experienced at one point. I loved how real the story was and that it included issues that are so important to talk about. Types of seizures within epilepsy aren't often talked about so I love the inclusion of a seizure type that is very easily missed. Cathy also really captures the mentality of a young person going through any mental health issue in the way that Sasha perceives it. The story opens your eyes to what can really hide behind the face of someone everyone thinks is perfect. Everyone needs to read this. It doesn't matter how old you are!

With "Sasha's Secret", Cathy Cassidy proves once again that this her best series to date. Readers of the first two Lost and Found books will already be involved in the lives of the characters and the ongoing story of the band, and this book continues to deal with current, relevant issues alongside the main story. Central to this book is Sasha's struggle to understand what is happening to her when she has absence seizures, and the anxiety this, and being the focus as lead singer of the band cause. Sasha's anxiety is shown with great sensitivity and is sure to be of help and comfort to any readers who are finding the pressures of life and expectation hard to cope with. Surrounding Sasha, all the other characters continue to develop with great warmth and humour and this reader will certainly be fascinated to see who we learn more about next. Highly recommended.
