So random but so funny
Sometimes I genuinely wonder how they came up with this series. It’s so random yet so funny, and I can just imagine how fun the artists had making it!

Must have for fans of the Anime and fun
It's rare that an adaptation is better than the source material, but I believe that this is one of those cases. Kyoto Animation's adaptation of Nichijou manages tie all the jokes together with its great animation, soundtrack, and directing. I find it hilarious and Nichijou is my favorite anime of all time. However, the source manga do not have the luxury of being able to tie together all of its gags so well. While those who enjoyed the comedy in the anime will still enjoy it in manga form, those who were turned off by the randomness and unpredictability in the anime will find that harder to stomach in the manga. From what I've seen online that is one of the main problems people had with Nichijou in general and the manga is no better than the anime in this regard. You have to take Nichijou for what it is, comedy for the sake of comedy. For those like me who enjoys off-kilter and surreal comedy Nichijou is great, the best out there. Looking for deeper meanings or "plot" won't net you much though.I do believe that the anime would be a better introduction to the series than the manga, but it is not available to stream or buy in the US, so you'll have to sail the high seas of the interwebs to find it,(wink wink) or order it from Australia via Madman. This is still a great introduction to the series for those who don't want to pay 60 dollars for some dvds from Australia that won't play on most dvd players.(I have these and they will work on PC if you have VLC media player)Ultimately, comedy is mostly subjective and I can't promise you that you'll find it has hilarious as I did. If you want to get taken on one hell of a wild and awesome ride though, I highly suggest getting this volume to at least try it out.Season 2 when? :'(

Great Manga. Nichijou and Slice-of-life Fans will love!
Nichijou is a fun and unique take on the "high school genre" with moments that'll make you laugh. The manga is almost identical to the anime that was adapted back in 2011, but even so, this manga can be enjoyed regardless if you have seen the anime or not.As for the physical manga, it's slightly smaller than I expected (at least compared to other manga I own) but very well printed. I was pleased to see that it was printed in traditional manga format (however, it does not tell you how to read manga like a lot of shonen or popular English manga does or give you a warning if you're about to start on the wrong side/page, so if this is your first manga, make sure you learn how to read manga before picking this up).It was a pleasure visiting the world of nichijou again and I look forward to the release of the next volume!

the art is great and the English translation is pretty good
very few mangas have ever really made me laugh. fewer have ever made me want to re-read in between readings. nichijou is an exception to the previous statements. Nichijou is a very visual ad wordy gag comedy. there are some chapters that do not even have words and rely only on visual gags. the art is great and the English translation is pretty good, as the translators had to localize some things that are very to difficult, if not near impossible to find an analogue, of a word play gag to when converting Japanese to English. 5/5 would wrestle a deer again. also, i hope thisis succesful enough to finally convince some english anime publisher to bring over the highly underrated anime, done by KyoniAni to the west.

A modern classic in a post-modern world
Why did it take so long for Nichijou anime and manga to get an English release? Extremely popular and well received by the anime fan community when it aired, Nichijou was on Japanese TV when the 2011 tsunami disaster happened. I figured the manga would have been an easy decision, but I guess not. Book 10 recently came out in Japan with a special edition. This is an off beat collection of vignettes in the characters' every day lives, which at times is bizarre but not lacking in comedy beats. If you need something that comes in small doses and never wavers, Nichijou will get you laughing.

I believe people can definitely enjoy the exaggerations of a normal life
A surreal, hilarious view into an "ordinary" high school life. Follow the lives of Yuuko, the most unlucky girl in existence, Mio, the "straight man" to Yuuko's idiocy and Mai, the one who causes most of Yuuko's problems. There's also the lives of Nano, a robot girl who desperately wants to look as human as possible and her creator, Hakase, who causes more trouble than it's worth. Despite the weirdness, I believe people can definitely enjoy the exaggerations of a normal life. If you love the anime and wish to support the manga's North American release, be sure to pick up a copy.

There's no such thing as too much,
What is "ordinary"?In Nichijou, Arawi attempts to smash the everyday ordinary life of high schoolers in a slice-of-life manga with surreal comedic shenanigans. And while it's true it might not hit home for everyone, it's definitely worth picking up this first volume to be sure. It's slapstick and fast paced humor will bring one laugh after the next, while also slightly feeling like it's poking fun at the slice-of-life genre itself. If you're new to Nichijou, definitely give this first volume a try, see if you like it. If you've watched the anime, I'd say buy this if you a) loved the anime but haven't the time to finish it (like me), as many of the stories in the anime were taken straight from the original material. Or maybe b) if you're a huge fan of Nichijou overall. After all, if you love this series, it should be obviously that there's no such thing as "too much".
