101 Conversations in Simple Spanish: Short Natural Dialogues to Boost Your Confidence & Improve Your Spoken Spanish

I was a little doubtful of the 'blurb' when I bought this book, but reading is one way of building a vocabulary quickly in a new language if you are not with native speakers. The book seems to be succeeding in this, but what surprised me was that there is a good story here, told through dialogue, so you want to continue reading. That takes some writing skill! These conversations have a 'real' feel to them, too, unlike the nonsense you sometimes get on Duolingo. Learning a language is a very personal thing, different people benefit from different methods, but I would certainly recommend having a look at this book.

This exactly suits our method of learning languages. We listen to one dialogue each day... slow it down to 75% and listen again... then read the text and look up any unknown words... then listen again full speed with the book open. Every day we pick up a few new things and confirm old things... all without undue effort. The numbering of the audio dialogues does not match that in the book, but easy to remedy. The vocab lists are also incomplete and somewhat haphazard, but that's okay - we can look up words on Google translate. All in all, most enjoyable as the storyline holds our attention well and this is real conversational Spanish.

I purchased this book in the paperback format. My Spanish studies have falled by the wayside somewhat over the past few years so. I was around a B1 level but stopped studying and taking online lessons when my 2nd daughter was born 3 years ago. I thought that this book would be a good tool to test how much I could remember and I was pleasantly surprised! I managed to rattle through the first 10 conversations in one sitting!!! I found the introduction to the book very useful. It gives a brief outline to the story and a short profile of the characters in English. The author also provides some guidance on how best to use this book for study - 'intensive' vs 'extensive' study. I follwed the advice and it seems to be working so far! The story is engaging and keeps you coming back for more. Hopefully there will be an audio version of this book available before too long.

I bought this book to help improve my Spanish reading skills. It's a beautiful story, with very easy to follow paragraphs. I highly recommend this book for beginner and intermediate learners.

This book is extremely useful for beginners like me. The repetition of words in the different chapters works so well to remember the words. The chapters are really short so you can just read for 5 minutes, several times a day. The story is interesting too.
