Champion Cutting Tool Corp Magnetic Cleanup Tool (RMX7)

As a girl who's a clean-freak metal artist who welds and grinds metal all day, 5 days a week, I love this tool! I love it's simple technology and the fact that it keeps me from getting metal splinters, ouch! It works great for cleaning up my metal bench. In fact, I leave it on my bench all day to attract metal dust and it cleans up after it's self so to speak! It also gets in spaces my vacuum cleaner can't. I've not used it for metal shavings, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on them too, as the magnet is strong. I have to use both hands when pulling it off my bench.

Sure beats getting on the floor with a whisk broom and dustpan to clean up the chips around the drill press. Wand the floor, slide the collar to the tip and pull the handle. Works like a charm and the chips drop clear. No-fuss, no mess! And it is long enough for me to reach the floor without me getting on my knees. If you don't understand that comment just wait a few more years and you too will see the benefit.

So far this is a great tool to clean up metal shaving produced from multi-spindle drills keeping hands out of the path of the sharp bits, even when Lockout/Tagout is completed, our bits are quite sharp. I was in a rush to get more magnetic cleanup tools but my normal distributor in Canada increased the price by almost double - so I started to shop around. I started to think outside the box and found these on Amazon and thought "Why not...I'll give them a try". With duty and shipping costs combined along with the price of the tool, the total came in lower than what I was paying before the massive increase. In this day and age where big business has to look at the budget as well as Health & Safety - Amazon came through with flying colours. I never would have thought of Amazon for my business needs(I buy from Amazon for my personal needs and hobbies) but I will now keep them in mind for other business needs with savings and quality like this.That being said, I would highly recommend this product and highly recommend Amazon!!!!!

Works well for a lot of material. Does not feel like a high end tool, about middle of the road on quality. Hopefully it will hold up for the long term. Does exactly what it’s supposed to do picking up chips.

Seriously it works. Well. Nothing works as well at getting those tiny metal slivers out of everything that are so prone to sticking into your fingers. I don't write reviews, this one is worth it, it's awesome and worth every penny. Cleans swarf from the bandsaw, who likes that job?

By far the most convenient tool for bulk metal shavings and small metal parts pick up and at the same time an absolute nightmare to maintain. Any of these other reviewers they're complaining if there's push button operation or on off switch need to get out there and see the other mediocre products that are made for this function. By far it works the best for picking up shavings and is the most portable. I'm currently working with the manufacturer to resolve it's only Achilles heel, which is the plastic ring it pushes the chips off as you pull the plunger to remove the metal shavings. 99% of the time this product is going to be used in construction or industrial applications that are not " plastic friendly ". I think I probably bought about 15 or 20 of these over the years and the harsh working conditions always managed to break the plastic ring. If it wasn't the harsh working conditions it would be trying to take this in your luggage on a plane where you get a 50/50 shot that it will be broken by the time you get to your destination as a traveling contractor. If you manage to baby the tool enough to keep the ring safe by removing it every time you get the chance and sticking it in your pocket or carrying in your carry-on, the oil and cutting fluid or tiny metal chips managed to wear away the internal diameter of the Ring and make it slip off by its own weight. My suggestion is that the ring be made out of a more durable material and possibly have a snap clamp feature so that it won't break so easily and the clamp will allow the ring to be perfectly positioned on the shaft for quick and clean operation and so you don't have to use your hands to pull the sharp metal shavings away from the shaft that houses the magnets.

I use this wand to clean up steel dust and swarf from my benchtop milling machine and around the belt sander. Super fast, easy cleanup, I just wish aluminum was magnetic too (but that's laws of nature).

I bought this for my shop to use around the drill press. I found that the magnet wasn't quite strong enough to get all the shards of steel. It's a great concept for a lighter duty area, but if your looking for shop quality, I wouldn't recommend this.
