Simply stunning focal length
I really wanted the new 28mm 1.4, but at around £1750.00 there was no chance of that happening, so opting for the 1.8 version was a compromise. Turns out it really wasn't.For a long time 35mm has been known as the story telling focal length, but for me, it's all about the 28mm. This Nikon 28mm 1.8 lens is fantastic. Minimal distortion, good colour and contrast and an excellent focal length if you like to include a little more of the scene in your portraits and people photography. Of course, it's a lens and can be used for whatever you want to photograph with it. At f1.8 and around 4 to 5 feet away from your subject, you get between 15cm and 30cm in focus and a background that subtly falls away. You obviously don't get the bokeh and soft background of an 85mm shot wide open, but that's the point in having a different lens; to tell a different story. My photography has reached a point where I can appreciate the subtlety of this lens shot wide open. It really is a hell of a lens.

Beautiful
This is a Wonderfull focal length for landscape and everyday use.I already have a 20mm f1.8g and the 24g and 35g. This lens is the one that gets the most use.

Pretty much flawless unless you're bothered by the construction materials
Pretty much flawless unless you're bothered by the construction materials. But it's built to a budget and for cameras that doesnt require the lens to have an aperture ring, and its brilliantly sharp across the frame and throughout the aperture range, so perfect for shooting landscapes.

Great lens for the price
Great lens. Small, light and great image quality. It's sharp and has a really nice bokeh. The build quality is only so-so - feels a bit cheap in the hand but the plus side to this is the (lack of) weight.

Mediocre
Massive colour fringing. Blue tint in night photos. Very sharp.
