A must read for the Reconstruction Period and the players in the war.
Very good reading and easy to read.Appears to be well researched and to the point.I read a lot of this author's work. There are so many facts I did not know about after the war and how nasty the South was treated.

Great book to read at anytime, anywhere...well put together..Those who were lucky enough to have survive the war had a story to tell, and this book tells you...

Informative and easy to read
Very good read for anyone interested in the American Civil War and its aftermath. Familiar characters, and some not so well known, are covered in relatively short chapters which mainly deal with (as the title suggests) what happened to them immediately after the war and in the years to come. Would recommend the book as informative and easy to read although perhaps not a heavyweight work for those studying the subject on a deeper intellectual level.
