is it suitable for dry wall (painted wall)?

Yes it is! fantastic product. All pictures and paintings are hanged on my wall using it.

Will it hold a wallmounted shoe box?

These ones are too small but check the weight they will hold. The larger ones hold 5lbs maybe there's more that hold a heavier weight
