Plenty loud enough for our use
My eight year old daughter keeps this attached to her day pack strap in case we get separated in crowded areas. It is a little bit of cheap security to know she can get my attention quickly if needed. The two button system is not idea but she has learned to just push both buttons at the same time. It is plenty loud enough to get my attention immediately in a noisy train station. We haven't had to use it for an emergency but it feels good to know she has it and knows how to use it. There are models more geared toward children but, I like the durability and water resistance of this unit.

Loud as HELL!!
I say again; Loud as HELL!!You can't accidentally set this off. Cheap knock-offs will go off because many are on keychains that go off when a pin is removed - gravity and jostling of those units make them a horrible protective device. With Sabre, you press a clearly-identified button.I also own Sabre's pepper spray with its high concentration of active irritants. It too is intelligently designed to avoid "misfires", and is intuitive when it comes to being ready for use.
