Q: Can you buy a pillow to put in it, and what size?

First I inserted 36" wide batting ( 2 layers) then tried to insert foam rubber. Could not get it in, but if you put the foam rubber in a plastic bag and turn the vacuum on, it'll shrink and go into the cover easily. Sorry, don't know where to get a pillow insert this size.

Q: In theory, could one stuff these with stuffing and work as pillows?

I stuffed mine with a foam dog bed, and an old comforter, for my dog. Comforter works great. Good way to hide them when not in use.

No, you cannot buy this with the pillow already in it. I tried and ended up returning the covers.

It runs the full length of the pillow right in the center.
