Not sure what happened
I use this and a couple other brands to finish guitars. The other brands are, Watco, and Mohawk. The first half of this can seemed on par, or close to it, with the other brands. The last bit of the can sprayed really nicely! But for an unknown reason, it was extremely hard to sand out. It felt more like a Urethane clear. And also, off-gassed a smell similar to Urethane, the entire time I was sanding/polishing it. I actually thought they put the wrong product in the can, but that's impossible, as Urethane requires a hardener to dry. The buffing went well, but the finish seems significantly less durable than the other brands. Usually, if a coating is harder to sand, it means that the finish will be more durable. Not the case in this situation. So on that note this product gets no love from me. Honest to goodness, I would choose the Watco lacquer, all other variables aside. The Mohawk is an awesome product as well. And it's almost too close to call so I make my choice based on price and availability. But will probably not consider the minwax product in the future.
