This 2 ton puller will break well before you stall it out due to a heavy load. Wear safety glasses!
My Maasdam 2 ton cable puller broke the second time that I used it. The center spool shattered while winching in the cable. It is too thin on one side, and is made of aluminum or some other weak metal. Magnet wouldn’t pick up the broken pieces.Contacted Maasdam customer service, who did get right back to me, but they told me to return the item to Amazon. There is no place on Amazon that I can return a defective item, when it was purchased a few months ago. I had hoped Maasdam would send me a new part. Currently overpriced at $50.42 9/2020

Will break and they will not honor warranty.
Winching my truck a couple weeks ago, bailer shattered and the cable pulls that attaches to the load broke rendering it totally ineffective. Contacted them about a warranty return as they advertise a “full lifetime warranty.” They insist they cannot help me and any warranty must go through Amazon, but there is no option for a return or warranty on my amazon order page and even still, it is not amazon’s problem, it is theirs for manufacturing a shoddy device. Also, it now lists it as made in USA, but in the item details says, “this product is manufactured in China.” They cannot both be true and it is clear they do not mind defrauding customers about warranties either.Update 1: Since posting, their sales department magically reached out and replaced the winch. So far so good, but not thoroughly tested near what I would consider "the limit." Cable drum is made of pot metal which will invariable and inevitably fail. Should be spun or moulded steel.

Awesome winch!
This thing is awesome. Used it right out of the box to pull a leaning-tower-of-Pisa 5000-lb concrete retaining wall back upright. With one arm. Seriously. The lean wasn't too bad, but it was a massive concrete slab. Took maybe 2000 pounds of tension to get the lean out of it. My new favorite tool.NOTE: People complaining it's hard to unreel haven't read the instructions. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. There's a leaf spring on one of the pawls. Press the leaf spring to pop it inverted, and release the pawl. Then you hold the other pawl back with your thumb. Now unreel the cable. See how easy that was?

Worked for what i needed
I have not put the full load on this or cared about the cheap parts people complain about. I had a 24' car hauler stuck and sunk in my yard. Because it was so far back, tow trucks wanted 300+ to pull it out. I used this and some chains to telephone pole and it pulled my trailer out just fine. Nothing broke or binded. Happy with my purchase

Great come-along.
Plenty of pulling power for 5/16 zipline tensioning. It was hard to choose a come-along, but I made a good choice with this Maasdam unit. Maasdam was, to my knowledge, the original producer and designer of this style winch, so you can trust that they did it right. Build quality is very good, and all the parts feel strong and of high quality materials. The blue handle looks great, and the long lever arm allows for tightening with ease. I never once thought it would not accomplish the task at hand.Others complained that it is difficult to pull slack, but to me it's pretty easy. I even found a way that you can hold both releases with one hand, but it's tough to get just right.I used this come-along to tension our backyard zipline, and it worked great. I hope to have this come-along for many years to come. I plan on using it to pull roots, small trees, and tension ropes and ziplines. I'll report back if I have any issues with it.
