Good dye on leather products

Poor product quality
Colour keeps on coming off/catches on with anything that comes into contact. Very pasty, artificial finish.

Great product
I purchased this to dye a pistol holster. The product was surprisingly high quality. I was so satisfied with the color that I used it on a pair of shoes.

This Is A Purse Lovers Best Friend
As the title says, I'm a purse-aholic and I will never have enough. But I have had one that is a favorite of mine that I use almost daily and it's a rather expensive leather backpack/ saddle bag. I've used this bag for years and didn't want to part with it but the color was worn in some areas and it really was starting to look ratty. I hesitated throwing it away but finally it was so bad I took it to the trash. Then an idea came to me " can you re-dye leather?" So off to Amazon I went in search of a dye and I found this. The color was exact and it didn't seem to hard to do. So as soon as it arrived, I got to work using rubber gloves and an old rag. I poured the dye onto the bag and rubbed it in, some areas drank it in as fast as I put it on so I had to be careful to do other areas with the same amount of color. I let it dry overnight and touched it in the morning, and it was completed dry and had set. Now my only concern is what will happen if it gets wet.... I'll follow up on this later. Overall it was easy to use, a lasting true color and it made the leather look brand new again. A great value that saved my beloved bag !

Fortivo ,Fiebings and Furniture clinic comparison
The best recoloring I have tried Fortivo ,Furniture Clinic and Fiebings. Furniture Clinic Balm went on great and multiple coats darkened to my leather’s color,I was super happy till the color rubbed off on clothing,it also came off with water.I was told that the product I bought was not compatible with my type leather and I should purchase a different kit.I cut a piece of leather from one of the cushions so I can color match the new product. After a few weeks I received a phone call stating that Furniture Clinic no longer color matches(They state color matching service on their website). So I was willing to pick a color from their chart and hope it would be close to what I need but I was told it is on back order. The next product I purchased was Fortivo brown. It went on ok but the color was off.The color does not come up with water.I ordered black and mixed it with the brown in small increments till I nailed the color. So I applied it in a swirling motion with pressure that left an unnatural finish and streaks. I abandoned Fortivo and Purchased Fiebing’s brown. This is a 3 step process that you have to Deglaze, color the leather then use resolene. The product works well but the color matching for me was difficult and the finish was too glossy. I went back to using Fortivo but this time I applied the balm in a circular motion to get it deep inside then I went over the swirl marks in straight lines while the material was still wet.For the final finish I went over it again with light strokes and it blended in well.A second coat was applied after drying.Another reviewer also mentioned using alcohol to remove marks and that method works good also. Fortivo Directions are terrible, the scan code in the box sends you to a website that has nothing to do with furniture products. Of all 3 products My personal opinion is Fortivo comes in 1st for ease of use,Second is Fiebings and Furniture Clinic comes in at 99 with ZERO Stars for a bad product, misinformation and a terrible product.

Worked Great, but you need to know a couple of things
Have a dark brown couch where the seat cushions had faded badly. I used the Fiebings dye, and it made it only a bit darker and more of an orange-brown. I wasn't thrilled, but ended up re-coating it several times and it got darker with each application. After several coats, it was a beautiful match to the original. This is a true dye, not a paint like coating that will scrape off. After letting it dry thoroughly, I wiped it with a clean cloth to remove any residue, but have found that it continued to need wiping for several days. Perhaps I used too much, not sure. Clean your leather well before dyeing - this is important. I am very pleased and it saved me $450 over having a local company dye 3 cushions.
