Tomee 2 Player Link Cable for Game Boy Color/ Game Boy Pocket/ Game Boy

Item worked as needed. Was able to trade Pokemon between R/B/Y/G/S/C on both GBA and GBC. Will not work for GBA games but that’s not its purpose.

I'm writing this to clear up an issue that a lot of people seem to have dealing with trading Pokemon from the original games. (Red,Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal.) Many people, like myself, who use a GBA (Gameboy Advance) assume they need to purchase a GBA link cable, which would make logical sense. However, it will not work. GBA link cables are only designed to work with GBA games. This cable however will fix that issue if you want to link older games (Original Gameboy, Gameboy Color). The cable fits into the GBA perfectly and worked flawlessly allowing me to trade from Pokemon Red to Blue. To summarize, this WILL link older Gameboy games being played on original GB, GB pocket, GB Color and GB Advance. This WILL NOT link GB Advance games.

This cable looked like it was being bullied by the majority of people that bought it. In my desperate need for one of these "dual-port" link cables, and looking at every available option, I went with this one since it was the cheapest, and since I'm an electrical engineer major, I can fix it myself if it't true that it doesn't work. First off, shipping was amazing. It was only two days! Today I finally opened it up, plugged it into my DMG game boy and my game boy color, fired up some Tetris, and it worked great first try! Then I tried out Pokémon Red and Blue. Trading Pokémon was just fine. Then I tried out a battle between them. Again, no problems! So why do so many people have them? I don't understand... But one thing I did notice was that the port was a little too tight for my liking when plugging it into my GBC. The GB plug was fine, but maybe my GBC's port was bent up or something, or maybe it really was the cable. Either way, it should be easy to just file the edges down. And if people are having connection problems, that might help too. Overall, no problems whatsoever so far. I recommend at least trying it out.

Bought this to facilitate pokemon trades on nostalgia nights with friends. The cable came in original packaging, but unfortunately didn't seem to work to allow trades between the GBC and GBA, somthing we all use to do in the days when both systems were relevant. Though it didn't work im still giving it four stars because im not sure if the cable or the ports on the systems are the problem.

Great product! I wasn't sure whether or not I should get this cable based on all the reviews and questions answered. However, that's just because my situation that called for a transfer cable was pretty unique. So I'll just explain my experience with it. The main reason I was looking for a transfer cable was to trade Pokémon between Crystal version (GBC) and Silver version (GBC). Though people said that this cable works between GBC games, I didn't know if it worked with different devices. I have a Gameboy Color and a Gameboy Advance SP. I read that even though the cable fits into the SP, it won't trade. (they probably meant from GBA Pokémon games) Despite reading that, I bought it anyway and tried it out, and it works! So to be extra clear, here is what worked for me when trading Pokémon: Pokémon Silver in the GBC. Pokémon Crystal in the GBA SP. Linked them both with this cable. Trades were successful. Please note that it was a little tough to get the cable into the GBA SP, but it fits snug and WILL WORK BETWEEN GBC POKÉMON GAMES.

The link cable innards are not attached to the metal shielding. Because it's a snug fit (not overly tight) it has more friction against the gameboy than the shielding, inevitably gutting the cable on first use. It's possible this is just a manufacturing mistake that they forgot a dab of glue or something, but none the less - this is not a well made product. After it was gutted I was unable to successfully link, I almost got a connection once but it appears the cable ripped itself apart and made the connection flaky - so I couldn't repair it myself (without taking apart the whole thing). The seller also warns on the return slip that you'll be charged a %15 fee as well as return costs if it's anything but a manufacturing error. We'll see what they determine to be manufacturing error soon enough. Either way, I wouldn't recommend attempting a purchase of this; if you do, maybe give the cable innards a light tug and see if applying a dab of glue is needed (at risk of making it non-returnable).

I was nervous to buy this cable after seeing some pretty bad reviews, but I was desperate. I just used it to trade Pokémon between blue on my old Gameboy and yellow on my GBC and it worked great!! The connections are a very tight fit on the GBC, but they work - just be gentle.

Es una solución moderna a un problema muy antiguo, no gastes tu tiempo tratando de conseguir un adaptador o un cable especial de nintendo, con este puedes conectar tu gameboy, gameboy color y gameboy advance para jugar con alguien más. No tiene el ancho de banda para jugar juegos de GBA, pero si lo que quieres es tan simple como tetris o Pokemon es más que suficiente. Ah, y también funciona con la impresora.
