Great in my SG Re-issue
I got a 61 Re-issue SG last year. Really liked the neck "burstbucker" from day 1, but struggled to ever get any liftoff out of the bridge p/u. Eventually read about the underwound low output burstbuckers that were made, and I cursed the typical Gibson sort of silliness - allowing such a crappy lead pickup in a $2k guitar! I bought a bridge position Duncan '59 and put it myself and it has saved my guitar investment. It's a perfect match for the existing neck p/u. It has the high end clarity and the punch my guitar was always lacking at the bridge. I had hesitated because I got caught up in some of the descriptions that called this a low output p/u. Don't worry. It's not a hot-rod screamer, but the tone is fabulous and the output is completely normal and has plenty of the liftoff I was looking for. It sounds far better than that stupid burstbucker. I played two gigs the weekend I made the switch, and very successfully evoked my best Allman Bros. and Jerry tones all weekend long, got lots of compliments on my sound and I could not be happier. Best $100 spent in quite awhile.

Keiner macht es besser
So muss ein vintage bridge humbucker klingen. Fett, rotzig, voll auf die 12. Mein absoluter Lieblings-Doppelspuler.

WOW what a difference
If you are looking to upgrade a guitars pickups and want that 60's sound like the old SG had, this is a great way to go. I had a china made SG which the body and neck were sweet. The pickups sucked big time. I decided to completely strip it down and replace all the electronics and pickups. I bought a complete pot set from SM with new switch craft switchs and output jack as well as new CTS 500 pots and orange drop caps. rewired this up to a set SD SH-1b and SH-1n humbuckers. New face plates and this guitar is killer. I reset the action and intonation and changed to Grover tuners and have the strings about a credit cards thickness from the frets. Plays great and sounds like an old SG from 60's. Whats cool is I don't really care if the body gets a ding or 2 as this a players guitar. It may say Epiphone on the neck but it is an SG at heart. Love these pickups.
