Good but expensive
My old Logitech R-R0001 wireless presenter had started to behave erratically. The forward keypress did not always activate anything on the slide presentation. Much embarrassment and running to and from the laptop to press a keyboard key instead. Not good. Rather detracted from the drama and flow of the presentation and the shuffling of the audience trying to see around me was a tad distracting.Time for a replacement and not without pleasure either as the Logitech was designed by people who had been away from college when they did ergonomics. One of its more startling delights was the volume rocker bar which was handily placed just where I gripped the device and sure to fill the hall with screaming sound or mute the whole thing at important moments. After a lot of shopping around the internet comparing and contrasting I discovered a large range of badge engineered products that in my opinion probably cost £4 to make whatever their retail price. I finally settled on the Canon PR100-R with a feeling of being quietly ripped off but liking the design, backlighting and highly visible laser. It arrived very rapidly, well done Amazon, and was eventually prized from its blister pack. Contents were the remote, two AAA batteries, a zippered pouch and two enormous sheets of instructions written in every language on the planet. I do not know about the other languages but when I finally found and read the English version I awarded it my 2016 prize for Most Mangled English. Well done Mr Canon. On first inspection it is light, made of shiny plastic that does not look as if it will survive a drop. Oh for a rubbery surface. However it is comfortable to hold and works well. The backlit screen for the timer is great and the forward and back buttons are fairly easy to locate in the dim. Mr Canon makes much of the laser being highly visible and it is much brighter than my older Logitech one. There are some oddities though. The forward button has a handy but very small and low pip on it to help identification by feel. However the battery door has three larger and higher pips as well as a grip pad. This seems illogical given the use each will have. They are also irritating as they fall under one’s fingers when holding the device. A gentle filing removed the battery door pips so all is ease and comfort but for the price I should not have to do that.I would respectfully suggest to Mr Canon making the forward button concave and the back button convex. Also the laser has a light pipe telltale bar on the top to show the operator that the laser is working. This seems totally unnecessary as you can actually see the laser. What would be good would be an led that shone when a control button was pressed, so you knew that the radio transmitter was working, which you cannot see.It does not have a volume control, which suits me, and the on/off switch has three positions: Off, Keynote and Powerpoint. However the device is not actually that specific. The forward and back buttons transmit an Up Arrow keypress and a Down Arrow keypress which both Powerpoint and Keynote use. It has two other buttons for powerpoint users that will start a show or give a temporary blank screen. I have used it with Proshow Producer and it can be easily set to be recognised through Proshow’s prefs menu.Is it worth the big price tag? Only time will tell. If it stands up to regular use without failure or damage then perhaps but I have the feeling that there may be other cheaper ones out there which are just as good. Canon have a reputation for quality so you are buying into that and it does work very well. The button presses are reassuring, the timer screen and setting are clear and it gives vibrations when the time set is up, five minutes before that and halfway through, if the time set is over 30minutes. The laser pointer is very bright. The whole package also looks quite stylish too.

Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Very practical and elegant. Apart from the quick shut down of the screen, it is a great quality-price purchase.
