Everyone has heard of, but few have read
Although best part of a century old the work is ageless, the references to class and hierarchy in the hospitality industry remain as relevant today as 100 years ago. The penury of poverty will be familiar to anyone who has experienced hard times as is the joy and laughter regardless of circumstance. It is an early work of his and not as polished and tight as his other more popular and famous titles but no less worth while. It is a short book and suitable for anyone, not in the least bit stuffy or the type that requires a thesaurus and a dictionary to get through.

Down and out in Paris and London
This is a very good read and an easy read too.Not to everyones taste I would imagine. It gives a good insight into poverty and what George Orwell had to do to survive.Particularly liked his assessment on pages 118 and 119,not much has changed mind. These pages for me are really insightful re the way the well off behave, some of them, that is.
