Wish I had found these first
These might be a "middle" quality pencil but they are nice. (Note of thanks to those who do coloring books, you seem to be driving the price down and the quality up from the "student" grade.)They lay down smooth even colors that are as bright or as light as you want (pressure on the pencil). The hexagonal shape makes them easier to use for longer times than the round pencils. The core does not break, at least I have not broken one yet.Compared to Prismacolor Primer, they are bolder colors, lay down smother, and actually blend much better. (Possibly due to FC's use of veggie oil instead of wax?)So far I've only used them with the Prismacolors to get the detail and wet fresh paint look quicker. So for those who know color pencils, this does in one pass what the Prismacolors does in 4 or 5. I've used them to get a color that I don't have in the Prisma set. They also have some interesting colors not common in other sets (gold, silver, copper). I think I will use the Prisma's as an underpainting and then lay these down on top for that finished look.My only complaint is that there is a consistency problem. Some colors, notably the lighter ones, do not perform the same way the darker colors do. The light colors seem to be a much harder core. That means more passes. Also 48 colors is fairly limited. (Not a complaint, just an observation for the serious artist.)For the money I'm very happy with these and wish I had found them first.

Another Amazing Faber-Castell Set.
I'm an adult colorist who finds coloring a very enjoyable and relaxing hobby. I typically will shy away from expensive professional artist brands of media. For that reason Rose Art and Crayola were my go to brands for non-water color pencils. That was until trying the Faber-Castell set of 12 Metallic pencils and being very impressed with them. I returned to purchase this box of 48 classic color pencils. Just like the metallics I found them to be the best color pencils I have used to date.At that time I compared them to eye brow pencils for their almost creamy textures. Where you don't need to apply very much pressure to apply the colors onto various types of paper. The leads don't drag or break off . Nor does the color rub off your art work onto your hands or other surfaces. My experience has been that this is true of this box of 48, which does include 2 of the metallic colors Gold and silver. The colors are richer and more vibrant then Rose Art pencils which I thought were very vibrant at the time I first purchased them a few years ago.The only difference that I feel is worth mentioning is that , included in this box is a small pencil sharpener for the semi - hexagon shaped barrels Faber-Castell pencils are known for. It does work well in my experience . Without the fusteration of broken leads that come with sharpeners that look similar to the one included. These pencils blend together as well as my set of Royal-Langnickel water colors do. I especially like how easily I've been able to use my Faber-Castell sets along with my Bic permanent markers and fineliners, or my Super Doodle and Lolliz gel pensBased on this experience I would highly recommend these pencils to colorists of all ages.

Great pencils!
Great entry level colored pencils. Good color selection and these color very nicely. I have been using them for adult coloring books and find that they are easy to blend and layer colors. They also work well in conjunction with other colored pencils and I've been able to use the Prismacolor blender with them without issue. I'd recommend these for a good set for someone getting started in adult coloring or for older children who are interested in art and want something better than Crayola but maybe aren't ready for Prismacolors or another pricey pencil brand.

Good quality color pencils
I remember being in first grade and seeing my classmates with this color pencils. My parents couldn't afford them so I had to borrow at times and they were beyond great! Now as an adult and being able to afford them, I can say they are so worth it! The blend nicely, and they feel strong when coloring. I love them! Yes buy them!
