Avatar: The Next Shadow

Writer Jeremy Barlow wraps up “Avatar: the Next Shadow” on a nice note, ending an excellent miniseries more focused on characters than action. Barlow shows a knack for pulling the strings on the characters, particularly Jake Sully, though he could have done more with a prominent villain outside a very brief cameo. Josh Hood and the art team continue to excel. While the next “Avatar” film has been delayed--and delayed--and delayed--this miniseries helped whet the appetite for the movie which is now scheduled for December 2022. Let’s hope Dark Horse continues to explore James Cameron’s Pandora and offers more comics. Highly recommended.
