Wiley Meggs History of Graphic Design

So interesting, including general history. I'm not only learning about the industry I've been in for more than 20 years, but I'm enjoying the general historical knowledge it affords too.

Great book. Absolutely recommended.

I had to purchase this for a class and it’s written a bit ridiculously, introducing artists through a revolving door and then whipping back to them without context later. Some of the turns of phrase are exhausting, which makes it difficult to absorb the information relevant for making notes and review. It does have great images and touches base on multiple movements, but because it is hard to retain the info it does disservice to those artists.

I just got this last night and I see that the book is used. The cover is all scratched and edges are wrecked. Some pages have noticeable finger/hand marks. When you open the book it immediately wants to flip to the middle - and where the pages would be glued is split open; almost like the pages were pushed down to stay open. If I wanted a used book I would've bought a used book. NOT $120 for a new one. Very disappointed.
