These are the ones to get!
A family member has a form of Lupus that makes them photosensitive to UV light (Sun light). They were encouraged by a dermatologist to constantly apply sunscreen to skin areas, specifically the arms (if wearing a hat). Not wanting to have chemicals on the skin all the time, we resorted to looking for arm coverings. After trying 4 different types, I can positively say you get what you pay for:*Moonar® Winter Hand Arm Crochet Knit Braided Wool Fingerless Mitten Gloves Warm Warmer (Dark Gray)*Light Gray Stretchy Fingerless Thumbhole Arm Warmer Gloves for Women*Modern Ladies Long Arm Fingerless Warmer Gloves*AquaX Mild compression arm sleeves with thumb holes Sports armlet hand cover - 1 pair for UV Protection sun screen cooling cycling basketball running hiking golf volleyball outdoor sportsI was so happy when we came across the Eclipse Sun Products UPF 50+ Sun Sleeves, Large, White! Even though they cost 2-3x as much as other sleeves, they are far superior! We have ordered 2 sizes, large and medium. Both are nice to have. The medium fits perfectly like a compression stocking, and is good for active use. The Large fits well too, but of course more roomy – for a relaxed fit.Since wearing these, the family member went back to the dermatologist for a check up and they asked what she was doing because the Lupus seemed under control, much better than other clients this time of year (summer). She mentioned these and they said keep wearing them, they are doing better than the sunscreen and she's avoiding the chemicals.Pros:- Quality! They hold up to washing well (mostly wash in sink with light detergent).- UV protection is a huge plus!- Appearance when wearing looks sporty, not "goofy."- Does not feel hot to wear! Feels cool, even in direct sun light.Cons:-Can't think of one yet. Will revise review if needed.

Exactly what I was looking for
I ordered these to wear while motorcycle riding on hot, sunny days. I've gotten tired of having to wear a long sleeved shirt over my tank top or regular t-shirt. It keeps the sun and wind off, but I don't like the extra layer when it's hot.I ordered the small size on a Friday and held my breath that they'd get here before we left for our annual weekend motorcycle trip the following weekend. They arrived by Thursday, so they got here in plenty of time. I slipped them on to see how they fit and even though I was inside, they felt cool on my arms (I'd just come in from unloading groceries in 90 degree heat). They seem to fit fine without binding; I like that they cover my hands and extend well underneath a regular t-shirt sleeve. They might even work with a tank top with addition of a small piece of 2-sided tape. My arms are relatively skinny so I'll be interested to see if they continue to stay up over a long day of riding in sun and heat. I will update my review once they've been "road tested."EDIT:I was very happy with the performance of these sleeves. They stayed up all day, no problem with sagging or slipping down. They prevented sunburn and windburn on my arms and hands, and felt cool during all but the very, very hottest part of the day. (Sunny and 90+ degrees in mid-afternoon) Wetting them felt fabulous - other reviewers have said it feels like air conditioning and they're right. If only they'd stay wet for more than a few minutes on a moving motorcycle! Maybe I'll start carrying a small spray bottle with me for a quick cool-down when needed. (I'm a passenger, not driving!) It was nice not to have to mess with a long sleeve shirt. Off the bike, they were easy to slip off, roll up and tuck in my back pocket.

Good protection from sun, trying to be more proactive against skin cancer.
Good for yard work. I've been treated for pre-cancerous cells so I'm trying to be more proactive about skin protection. I'm 64, my skin isn't as tough as it was 40 years ago. These get dirty in the hands as I work, but they clean up pretty good in the washer. They work good with loose T-shirts, I can get these all the way up where they're under my shirt sleeves. So far they've stayed up high on my arms, no sliding down. I live in Ocala, Fl. and this time of year (mid August) it gets very hot (upper 90's) and humidity that has you sweating in less than 5 minutes. The sleeves seem to help keep my arms cooler, I guess thru evaporation on the sleeves. It's very noticeable if there's a breeze. Of course, a breeze always helps during these lovely summer days. I think they're a bit expensive, so I only own one pair. The price is why I've only rated them 4 stars. Hopefully they'll be tough and give me a long life...
