An amazing product works really well.But dont make the mistake I did and add extra cos when the winter arrives and the soil gets really wet it erupts out of the ground.Parts of my garden resemble a volcanic eruption 🤣

Love the stuff and mix it with compost for all containers, began also using in seed beds and cloches as it helps in hot spells as well. dislike the scoop but it has its use in preventing you from using too much. You only need a little for each pot and at least an inch deep. I use this quite a lot but the bag will not keep it dry if you have even a little gap so err on the safe side and put it also into and airtight container. Otherwise it will clump and be very hard to use effectively.

I ordered this after reading an article indicating tomato plants benefit from use of water storing gel, particularly during the hot weather experienced recently.I am actually growing varieties in containers that are specifically mentioned on the front face of the packet: "Pots & Baskets".After receiving the packet I spotted some small print in uppercase - but on the REVERSE side - stating the product is for use on ornamentals only. I called Evergreen to query this; the agent verified it is NOT for use on vegetables - "Which is why we print the advice limiting its use to ornamentals" - though unconcerned at my suggestion this significant limitation should be made clear on the front, along with any advertising materials by other sellers.So, for my requirements, this was a total waste of money. I hope Evergreen, and all online sellers, will take note - and suitable remedial action to avoid misleading others.

I have a small yard and garden in pots, troughs, baskets, etc. These crystals are essential to keep plants hydrated, well mixed into the soil, along with some miracle grow fertiliser pellets gives me great results.

I have used this for years now and it's still as good as ever. I usually swell about a quarter of a pack in a bucket and add growmore of miracle gro powder feed before I add this to pots. I have dry sandy garden soil so I also add a scoop of the mix into a hole in the ground before I plant anything as it keeps the plants from drying out. Wouldn't be without this gel. Lasts about 2 years under large plants in pots before needing to renew which I do when potting on into larger pots.

So useful for hanging baskets, to help rerain moisture in the soil rather than water just running straight through

Used water retaining gel for years, the results are very very good, can’t go wrong, the amount to use is clearly stated on the packaging, these one star reviews perplex me, doubt they’re not following the instructions lol.Anyhoo I mix up 40-50 litres of compost at a time in a huge drum with everything added, seems to work for me.

Got these crystals as I was planting hostas in pots and I know they like very moist soil, of course the minute I got them planted up it rained every day for weeks, so it is hard to be 100% sure how well they will do in a dry spell, but the last few days have been dry and my other pots need watering, but not the ones with this product.
