One of Van's Best!!
Maybe it's because this one came out during my college days, but when the opportunity came to reacquire it, at a reasonable price, I jumped on it. I have to admit, a part of me would have bought it for the song Tupelo Honey alone, but several other tracks are first rate and range from upbeat rockers to soulful blues!! Highly recommend!!

My favourite record by Van the Man. Can't get all the tracks on streaming sites so yo gotta pony up a bunch of cash to hear it. Was worth it for me to relive a record I listened to a lot in my 20's, was just as good as I remembered.

A Charmer
I didn't fall in love with Tupelo Honey as immediately and fully as I did with Van's masterpiece, Moondance, but it's impossible to not be charmed and seduced by the kindhearted sweetness of the record. That title track alone is one of the most tender songs he's ever recorded, an imagistically evocative love song that never feels slight or unearned. The record around it may not have a revelation quite to that level, but it does have a steady stream of songs that coax smiles from all directions - from the hopeful fun of "Wild Night" to the "mmm bubbles" conclusion in "Moonshine Whiskey."

Let`s keep it brief.Gorgeous, summery, soulful, sensual, gently funky, loved-up, earthy ~ a timeless Vanload of songs that never lets you down. Taken as a whole, one of his best albums. It may not be quite as spectacular as No Guru ... or unique as Astral Weeks, but gives as much sheer pleasure. A solid improvement on the excellent His Band & Streetchoir, and looks forward to St Dominic`s Preview, Veedon Fleece and all the many other great albums to come in this man`s remarkable musical odyssey.Dusty did a terrific version of the title track. Wish Van had collaborated with her, rather than Cliff or the dread Brian Kennedy. But that's another story, or two.Lovely music. Hesitate not.

I'm a fan of Van the Man and if you are reading this as a fan of Van too then you won't need me to tell you about this album. If however you are new to Van morrison then I would suggest his CD "Still on Top" or "No Plan B" as an intro to his music.
